He didn’t make the decisions to become the starter. He worked his butt off to get to that position. Now Jerry has worked his butt off to earn the starting position. It’s obvious that Simon is still doing whatever he can to help the team. If the time comes I would expect he will be able to step in and show that he is a better QB than he was last year. Regardless, your persistent negative comments are unwarranted this year. I would hope you now realize that even Jerry will miss wide open receivers for a TD at times or one bounce passes to receivers at times. (Please don’t post of them 20 times on ss.com). That doesn’t mean Jerry shouldn’t be QB, it means it happens to all QB’s at all levels. Who cares about whose picture is where? They did an interesting article on Simon who has played well when he has been in. It’s clear how much respect the coaches and his teammates have for him. Championship teams need guys like this. It’s part of learning to win and building a consistent winner. Guys who may have more physical abilities get motivated to do better when they see teammates doing everything they can to help the team. Our starting QB is front and center. He doesn’t care if a teammate is featured in a photo or an article why should you? This isn’t about playing time or who starts. It’s a great article that provides a window into what some of the key components of successful programs are. There is nothing in my comment nor in the article that detracts from the other QB’s. At every level, except maybe fantasy FB (so you obviously never learned how to appreciate the guys who don’t start, or don’t play much, but rather than quit, keep working their ass off to make the team better) these are the players we usually don’t hear about. Your comments are a window into your character. If you wish, I can give you a hint as to what Simon’s teammates would say about you. (They make fun of fans like you). 1 1 2 Quote

Give that some thought. Different sport, but Coltyn Sanderson was a team guy, and played big on UNDs 2016 Natty run, while also scoring a nice goal against Michigan. He now works within the program. Guys like him and Simon are glue for a team. Hard for those that have never been part of it, to understand it. 6 Quote

Popular Post The Sicatoka Posted September 22 Popular Post Posted September 22 Some folks are slow on the up-take. UND just put a ton of new looks and wrinkles on tape that MVFC DCs need to be aware of. It almost forces a D to switch to man coverage when 11 or 6 is in the slot; if they stay in zone, step back, backwards pass, and slot QB has RPO with the opposite side receiver running post and near side running shallow cross (ready to block). 3 5 Quote

Observant point. It was Schleusner that told me that strategy years back. Before a big game, or prior to conference, throw so many looks on film that DCs don't have enough practice time in the week to prepare for them all. 2 5 Quote

It was close to two decades ago @PCM was advocating "two QBs on the field at once" to me as a disrupter to the defense preparation. I believe it was the FB "Brock-star" era. 1 3 Quote

They actually have Nate DeMontagnac as the main photo on the sports page. There is a picture of Simon, which accompanies the article that was written about him where he asked the coaches what he can do to help the team and they added a few wrinkles for him to put some extra things on tape for other teams to prepare for. The new head coach also states a lot of the same thing we heard last year: Quote "I just love and appreciate that kid so much for what he’s about," head coach Eric Schmidt said. "It’s not about him. There’s a difference between having a big ego and having a strong ego; he wants to make our team as good as he can make it, and he believes that he can help us do that in a lot of different ways. So it was great to be able to see him get out there and help our football team." "I love Simon Romfo," Schmidt said. "There’s not a more selfless guy. He loves to compete. It has nothing to do with size and speed, all those things, measurables that you get to measure. He has more intangibles than maybe anybody on our team. He’s endeared himself to our team. Guys want to play with him, and play for him." 1 5 Quote

There is not a program in the Country that doesn't want to up their talent level. The fact is that we have who we have right now and the coaching staff needs to use what they have to win as many game as possible. All indications are Simon has been a great teammate since he has got here. Just because the previous coaching staff made him the starting QB last year is not his fault. He did the best that he could. Now he is doing all the he can to help the team win. We loved the Brockstar package and when Quincy V would come in and run QB sneak, but when Simon wants to help and the coaches put in packages for him some people have a problem. Simon is a team player and the way he gets crapped on by people on this site is gross and sickening. You may say you have nothing against him personally, but you clearly do. Let it go. Your guy is QB1. Enjoy it. Looks like Jerry is clearly the best QB this year, and I'm surprised the completion was that close in Fall Camp. Its as if you want Schimidt to call and tell the Herald who they should put on the front of the page. I guarantee no one on the team cares, they just want to win. 3 12 Quote
