so my buddy's new 2 or 3k lg tv (from Dakotah tv and appliance--go Sioux).....go to help set up the nchc APP on the tv...nothing....wtf fenton????????

LG has traditionally shipped with the WebOS operating system. This is one of the least supported if not the least supported OS out there by companies. Haven't looked into it recently. Used to be one of the best performing, looks and optimized, but being restricted to LG only when LG TV have consistently been more expensive and less available (at retailers) than those with Fire TV, Roku, Android TV.

Either way, the processor in TVs that run the Smart Operating System is often older and slower than any of the cheap streaming devices/boxes out there. Get a Onn 4k Player for $40 and it will be much smoother and more reliable than that $2k LG TV built in system anyway.

I have an LG (not sure if it's 4k, hand me down) and use Castify to broadcast NCHC.tv from my phone. Looked great tonight.

If you use Apple products Airplay should be built in.

I find this true as well. My $$$ony TV is pretty quick in the OS, as far as TVs go, but my $40 Roku stick still works better for NCHC.TV

Seeing what is on ESPNews and ESPNU, ESPNews is "Obscure Sports Quarterly" with World Juggling Federation, Pop-A-Shot, Axe Throwing, etc... ESPNU could be showing a college hockey game but let's show 30 for 30 and NLL instead. ESPNU could be used better than it is.

It's not that hard to understand. Those shows make more money for ESPN than broadcasting college hockey.

The production quality and announcers needed toto move a game from ESPN+ to a linear channel does not equate to advertising dollars due to viewers.

I don't know how ESPN is making money off of the World Juggling Federation and Axe Throwing. If it's such great programming, why don't they put it on the main ESPN channel? I know I won't be watching any of that garbage.

More cable systems might pick up ESPNU and ESPNews if they put decent programming on it. But TV executives aren't known for being all that intelligent to begin with.

Nobody said it's great programming, but go ahead and pretend that's the case if it hurts your feelings less.

It costs ESPN virtually nothing to show that content. It costs ESPN money to crew and broadcast college hockey but essentially gain no more viewers.

College hockey does not bring significant viewership numbers.

Now if they were showing axe juggling, that might be worthy of ESPN, at least the Ocho.

Who would pay for advertising during those programs? I know I wouldn't waste my ad dollars on garbage like that. We just have too many cable channels and too little programming for them. No wonder cable television is dying a slow death.

And my feelings are just fine, thank you very much.
