Bryn as GM, Simpson back and a new asst. is my guess from all this.

Yep. I said it before, but what I think/want will happen is Chyz signed as GM, KG moves on to the NHL, Simmer stays, Jax hires St. Clair and one more assistant with good experience.

Nobody I've ever known got great due to their successes.  They got great due to their failures.

In most cases head coaches are hired with the understanding that upon perceived lack of success they will  be fired.

If Berry had this success at a school like Colorado College, they would have tolerated a season like 24-25.

But not at North Dakota

We are kind of spoiled

I would assume the GM counts as an assistant, otherwise why wouldn't every team just call a guy the GM.

My mentor told me when I got my first big executive job that the one certainty when you get these jobs is that you will be let go at some point.

Honestly, I'm not sure. GMs aren't common in college hockey, but they are at big-time college football schools. I don't know how the distinction would work. I personally see it as a unique position that's not an assistant. Those are problems for those smarter than I to figure out.

I just want Chyzyk to be the our main recruiter of talent.

Providence has it as its own title and not an assistant coach since they have 3 assistant coaches.

I suspect, or more accurate I am guessing it applies to "on the bench"...  other wise the guy upstairs reviewing stuff would be counted.

After Frozen Four, Herter comes on as Associate HC, Karl Gone, maybe Simpson gone, bring in St. Clair & Smaby on bench,  Chyzyk as GM/Head of Scouting.

In other wild guesses or devils advocate, maybe Berry sacrificed himself when it was clear that someone would take a fall....

So we should have kept Berry?

chyzy could tell you more about the 06-10 chippaz than even me : )

In all seriousness he can, he's a quality guy plugged in all over.

He's the spark UND hockey needs right now. Getting him would be a very big deal.

The average tenure for a fortune 500 exec is 4 years and change.  You really don't last long, and very little is controllable or about you....kinda like a big time coach....although they seem to get the benefit of the doubt longer or the long knives don't come out as quickly

sounds like a great asset, would he remained plugged in if he changes his situation to UND centric.... or is he a better asset with his current path?

This would be an awesome scenario
