And without looking it up name one associate head coach in the ECAC. Ten seconds.  Don't cheat.  (I got zero)

Takes me more than ten seconds just to name five programs in the ECAC

My point is, you saying no to Hak simply because of his age, even though he's always been an incredible recruiter and has always had a knack for connecting with his players and getting the most out of them, is stupid.

I want us to do a hard reset. A reboot. Promoting from within (Jackson) or bringing back a previous coach (Hakstol) doesn't do that.

And if you want to call that stupid, go ahead. :silly:

Schlossman's story today on the controversy of Gino's hire might be laying the foundation for the uproar that will happen if Dane is hired.

Not an insider, so what is the Berry/Jackson relationship dynamic like?

are we really talking about bringing is a young coach from start-up Augustana as the head coach of a premier hockey program in the nation?

David carle has worked out for Denver... so far anyway.

Cliff notes?

Gino was an incredibly unpopular hire, because he was the assistant coach to Bjorkman who was being replaced after a bad stretch. Turned out to be one of the best hires.

One of two things. It'll either be Dane and Brad is doing the AD a solid or Schloss wants it to be Dane and is doing it in a not-so-subtle way.

Schmidt isn't the same coach he was when he was defensive coordinator under Bubba.

He worked under Kalen DeBoer and has obviously picked up some new ideas. He is changing our defense for the first time since 1989.

And in his first three months, he has infused a new attitude and energy into the program. Whether it translates to the field remains to be seen.

But please feel free to go off-topic. It's entertaining. :silly:

Also in the article yesterday about potential candidates it was Dane's picture in with the article.

And Hak spent time winning playoff series in the NHL....

Look, you don't like Hak. That's fine. You're entitled to your opinion. Just cool it with the hypocrisy.

Here was his write up. Nobody looked better than Jackson.

UND has only hired one coach since 1957 who was not previously a UND assistant coach. That was Rube Bjorkman and it did not turn out well. Bjorkman is the only UND coach to finish with a losing record.

If UND goes with an internal candidate, associate head coach Dane Jackson is likely the guy.

He's been with the program for 19 seasons — and those 19 seasons have been pretty good. Jackson has been offered at least three assistant coaching jobs in the NHL and at least one head coaching job in the AHL, but he's remained in Grand Forks.

Jackson, 54, has long seemed like the heir apparent to Berry.

He will likely be the most popular choice among alums.

so if i had left it at Big10 and HockeyEast would you all be happy?  you all zeroed on ECAC.

I zeroed in on ECAC because you said it and I thought it was the most funny of the three but if you had left it with Big 10 and Hockey East I'd have made fun of that too considering the person in question is a proven associate head coach in the WCHA, NCHC, and Big 10.

I was thinking Coach Reilly. He sure knew how to get those blue chip players, even if that meant breaking district line rules.

Perhaps Estevez as assistant to teach the flying V.

Top recruiter for Motzco a few years ago….really good guy. He would be my choice (or Barr I suppose) if we go outside the family.

The NHL is way different than the NCAA. Or CHL for that matter.

I really wanted Hak to be honest. If that is not the case then I have really warmed up to Raboin. I have no idea how realistic the chances are of that but if Hak is a no go I would like to get Raboin. Another person who I think would really move the needle would be Moorhead boy Matt Cullen.

Let's dig into this. Do you agree that everything that Schlossman has put out has pointed to Dane? The most obvious reason would seem to be what you thought. Laying the tracks for the uproar. He would be doing the athletic department a favor. Everyone will hate this hire but look here. We also know how distraught he was with the Berry news and how he acted after women's hockey got cut. He can hold a grudge. Why would he do the AD a favor? What if it's not Dane? Which I don't think it will be. That type of article, or his write up on Jackson would be sort of bizarre. He's essentially endorsing his candidate.
