Cripes, I never thought Berry would let recruiting go down the toilet like this. Kudos to Chaves on making the tough, but necessary choice to let him go. Welcome to our program Anthony! We look forward to seeing you in action in October! We didn’t want him originally Quote

Haven't you been following the stories that have come out regarding Berry's lackadaisical approach to recruiting? I have seen several instances of players not being offered because "we are full". Meaning that keeping a home town boy (Montgomery) on the team was more important than making the team better. There is a reason Berry is no longer in charge of this program. I’m fairly aware of what’s going on with this program. Quote

Maybe Croal will get more time now instead of us hearing excuses as why Montgomery dressed instead of him. 9 Quote

I still think that Jax & Co have a couple high end CHL guys that will slot into some of those C/W openings. Quote

burd Posted yesterday at 01:04 AM Posted yesterday at 01:04 AM I'm ordinarily not into the recruit speculation game, usually because I just don't have the knowledge, but is there a meaningful chance that Herter ends up at UND next year? Quote

I think there is a "meaningful chance." I won't put a percentage on it but it's his if he wants it. Depends on if 1) he wants to make a so-called lateral move to come home after being passed up for the head job and 2) does he get a significant pay raise by doing so. Source I know spoke with Herter and he was under the impression after the interview process that he would have been offered UND HC job if WMU had been eliminated in the regionals. UND wanted to move quickly and WMU kept/keeps winning. I do think they haven't posted the associate HC position in the hope that he wants to come in. Would be a huge get. Very connected. Winner everywhere he goes. 1 Quote

If that's true (Herter was top choice but passed on because of wanting to decide quickly), then that'd be an awfully awkward dynamic between him and Dane to start things off if he came in as Associate. Seems like he'd be a great Associate, but geez, the last thing we need are coaches that again can't get along and work together. Quote

I have no firm knowledge of DJ and Herter's current relationship but they were teammates at UND for 3 years. The HC decision was not theirs to make. If Herter comes back I'd say the decision made by the powers-that-be would be a non-issue. 3 Quote

If they post the associate position on Monday, that could be a sign of that. Unless Herter absolutely loves Kalamazoo, I could see him making another lateral move as Assoc HC...he held that position at UMD before leaving for the same position at WMU. Wouldn't be too far of a stretch to do that same move to head back to his alma mater. 5 minutes ago, SIOUXpucks said: If that's true (Herter was top choice but passed on because of wanting to decide quickly), then that'd be an awfully awkward dynamic between him and Dane to start things off if he came in as Associate. They came to UND on the same FR class in 88 and from everything I've heard, are pretty good buds. 3 1 Quote

SIOUXELEVENS Posted yesterday at 04:10 AM Posted yesterday at 04:10 AM Agree he passed up alot of shots last year. Quote
burd Posted 22 hours ago Posted 22 hours ago Ferschweiler is 45 and has not been HC very long. I suppose Herter thinks the HC position at WMU will likely not become available anytime soon. 1 Quote

If that happens would Herter step in as HC at Western, short circuiting any thought of him coming here as Associate, if that’s even something of a possibility anyway? Quote

SuhakiYeahYeah Posted 16 hours ago Posted 16 hours ago If it's worth anything, on Instagram all of the players who graduated this year and all of the ones who will be on next year's team have been putting each other on their stories (Semp and Berg signing with NY, Schmaltz signing and scoring with Providence, Wilkie signing and scoring with Calgary, Kunz signing etc). The only ones that haven't been included are Perron and Boisvert transfering, and I assume O-Mac won't be talked about either whenever he chooses his next location. As much as it hurts to lose the skill, I feel the cancers have been cut out. 2 Quote
