The Sicatoka Posted April 17 Posted April 17 Weren't Komzak and MacDonald defensive partners in juniors? With Mac leaving we likely should've seen this coming. Quote

I was shocked he wasn’t in the portal on day 1 1 Quote

I think it would be smart to hold off Lindberg for another year and let him develop in the USHL like Laurilla did. Besides, it might be wise to bring in a Junior defenseman to even out the classes, as it is most likely you could lose Livanavage and Wiebe to the pros after next year, leaving you with no Senior defense, unless Zmolek gets another year because of his injuries. So it is possible they could bring in a couple guys if they held off Lindberg. 1 Quote

Don't know that teams will go with two goalies or 14 forwards. Quote

It has everything to do with who is coming back and what playing time is available. Do you really want to tell our first round pick (Emery) that he is going to get dropped to 3rd pair. Or the same goes for Livanavage and Wiebe who passed on pro deals to stick around? We want the best players but we also want to show that we can retain good players that we recruited. Quote

I guess I am just anxious for Jax and his staff to reestablish us as a force in recruiting circles. Quote

I feel much better about our future than I do about the last 2-3 years of dropping off the proverbial recruitment cliff. I'm also ready to be done playing mediocre 4th and 5th year players over guys with a higher ceiling 2 Quote

So we shouldn't have been recruiting Pohlkamp last year? Don't agree on only recruiting guys that won't upset the apple cart by displacing guys that are already here. With that line of thinking, if Boisvert was staying and Carter Bear was going to commit, we shouldn't go after Gavin McKenna. Get the best players that play the way you want them to -- period! Quote

I’m sure coaches and player were on same page….this isn’t really a loss. Kid hasn’t played in two years, try to find another team with options. We’ll replace him with someone younger. 4 Quote
Siouxdaddy Posted April 18 Posted April 18 While I'm sure many of you saw Sacha’s instagram post (just a BU hype video) — id like to give some biased input that the media wont tell you about him. He’s an ass — shows up to all of his classes 30 minutes late, interrupts them, walks in without a backpack and brings a meal and eats in class (no other guy on the hockey team did this). As been reported, he got into a fight at Pike fraternity, and dipped to BU the next day (blindsided the team). Imo, good player, terrible kid. 4 Quote
brianvf Posted April 18 Posted April 18 Slim pickings here for remaining decent portal forwards/centers. Zacher is the highest goal scorer remaining. Giampa the highest point totals. Werner is intriguing but unsure with him looking for his 3rd team in 3 years. Perdion had been mentioned earlier as a player we were looking at. Lemyre just wins natty's, plan & simple. Matteo Giampa, so, Canisius, 8-22—30 Walter Zacher, so, Robert Morris, 15-9—24 Evan Werner, so, Michigan, 11-11—22 Austin Brimmer, jr, Long Island, 9-12—21 J.R. Perdion, fr, Long Island, 4-14—18 Tristan Lemyre, jr, Western Michigan, 6-8—14 Raimonds Vitolins, jr, Miami, 4-10—14 Mikey DeAngelo, fr, Michigan State, 3-6—9 Ryan Duguay, fr, Northern Michigan, 6-2—8 Alex Zetterberg, fr, Boston University, 5-3—8 Matthew Romer, so, Northern Michigan, 5-3—8 Quote

Lemyre just wins natty's, plain & simple. Would be ideal if UND can pick up a couple of solid C + another forward for next year so most of the productivity doesn't run through 1 line. The fact that UND hasn't acted yet on the current portal leftovers may mean that it has better options lined up from the CHL. But Lemyre would be solid from a depth standpoint. McKenna may go elsewhere, but Chyzyk still needs to blow the roof off the house with a couple of very solid forwards for next year to make up for the loss of Boisvert. Of all the good available players who will transfer from the CHL to the NCAA next year, UND should definitely be getting a few of them; you would think anyway. 5 Quote

Both foreign players that UND doesn't typically get or go after (as you said), but both could potentially do well. Vitolins has experience in NCHC play...wonder how he could do when not on the worst team in the league and surrounded by better players. Zetterberg got buried on a loaded BU F group but still put up ok points as a FR. 1 Quote
