So I missed the game but heard the post game with Berry. How many penalties did we take in the third?

Berry:

-Good 45 minutes.  Played great, should've buried more pucks. 

-Not a full sixty (shocking)

-End of the day we gotta learn and keep grinding away.

-Bad penalties in the third killed momentum.

-Hard to explain when stuff like this happens.

Two of them, early in the period.  That's a cop out for his late game personnel decisions.  Penalties weren't the difference.

Is Louis the V hurt?  Or just scratched?  I'd rather have him out with under 4 minutes to go than Kunz, Wilkie, Omac.

When I saw that line out I had a bad feeling.  Would've been a great time to shorten the bench with a TO in your pocket instead of rolling in the third unit.

Schloss just posted that this was the 4th time this season that UND blew a 3rd period lead. Did Hakstol have 4 of those his entire 11-year coaching career here? This is scary

Come out in the 3rd guns a blazing, play aggressive. Instead Brad tells them to sit back and wait for SCSU to come at them.

The S/O win means ZERO. We are done pairwise unless we win the NCHC tourney.

Remember, it wasn’t until Berry took a lot of heat that he finally benched Rhett Gardner.  That said, if he were to bench Jamernik it should have been after the Arizona State game. Jamernik at least brings it most games. Why McLaughlin keeps getting trotted out there is baffling.  I trust Mac Swanson more in that situation than McLaughlin.  I don’t know if it is the team taking on the coaches personality or what, but the team has no killer instinct.  Of course it wouldn’t be nice to pile on, because goodness knows a two goal lead is golden for Berry’s teams.

Need to find the positives for Brad Berry:

1. They won’t lose another first round NC$$ tourney game this year. 
2. More free time to find the next portal goalie.

What bothers me is Berry doesn’t seem to be able to motivate the team at key times. The fact that you have the same postgame interview all the time with no improvement in those areas suggest this lack of motivation and/or accountability.  That is the job of the coach, to motivate and hold accountable.  Not seeing it.
