NCAA football portal dates for 2024-2025: 
Winter: opens December 9, 2024 and closes December 28, 2024 
Spring: Opens April 16, 2025 and closes April 25, 2025 
Portal opens the day after CFP & bowl games are announced. 
Opens for 30 days when head coach leaves the program.

I believe there is also a window for teams still playing when the portal closes.

I don't know if there is a chance but that CB out of Richmond UND offered. Think there is other offers out to a WR, S, and DL but can't remember the names?

Good for USD. Get a proven guy returning that quarterbacked a FCS semifinal team. Would rather have that then a portal guy. 

Meanwhile at UND.....a portal guy is coming in. Bar is low so he'll be an upgrade so there's that.

I was certain that Pennington was going to bring them to Frisco.  But now they are lucky he isn't coming.

Could possibly happen with him. Could possibly happen without him. Will wait and see. USD is miles ahead of UND in that possibility next season.

BTW when was the last time UND was a game away from Frisco? 

Least we got our guy from San Diego (St) which in German means a whale's vagina.

I was so pumped for Pennington. He was gonna be really good because USD was good this year

Jacks had six to start the year. 1 SR, 2 JR, the other three were freshmen or redshirt freshmen. Granted they were the defending champs. USD 2 juniors and 2 frosh. NDSU 4.

If I would guess, need better competition, fit what is to be run and anticipating possible transfers.

You think it’ll look drastically different than the normal turnover? The math isn’t going to check out unless we see 10+ players enter the portal tomorrow. 
 

Note: I think this off-season is going great so far.

What does it mean when our players are committing to 2025 with the 1883 shirts?  Are they signing something and accepting their scholarship? Can they still enter the portal in the spring without the school releasing them?

I know that there will be a flood of FBS players in the portal because of the new roster limits. And my comment was more about the dearth of talent on the team right now. If we wanted to keep almost all of our current players, we could have just kept Bubba.

It is going to take more than 1 year to turn this defense around. They have been awful for two seasons. If we are slightly below average or average next year that is a win IMO.

Agree 100%. But I think a talent upgrade in a few well-placed positions could make the defense noticeably better.
