Agree 100%. But I think a talent upgrade in a few well-placed positions could make the defense noticeably better.

For sure. Would like to see a couple more from the portal.

You think it’ll look drastically different than the normal turnover? The math isn’t going to check out unless we see 10+ players enter the portal tomorrow.

Note: I think this off-season is going great so far.

Spring portal

Do you think we’ll see considerably more additions more the portal in the next few weeks? If so, then I could see Spring ball having more of a “playing for a roster spot” for more positional groups. Otherwise, outside of LB and QB, again, I don’t think there’s much more attrition than normal. We’ll see.

Spring portal is when the bigger schools players start to realize that they are passed up on depth chart by younger players and/or NIL funds aren’t what they were expecting. Big programs are becoming more analytical and similar to NFL teams in allocating payroll(NIL). For example they may have 12% budget for DT and have two studs that will get lions share of that which leaves 5th best DT with almost nothing and looking for new home.

What does it mean when our players are committing to 2025 with the 1883 shirts?  Are they signing something and accepting their scholarship? Can they still enter the portal in the spring without the school releasing them?

thanks

There appears to be a NIL dispute in Wisconsin right now.

It’s been reported he signed a deal with Miami I think but he signed two weeks before the season ended and the transfer portal opened

And maybe that is the one who does all the blocking so the LB get the sacks.

Sure, I'll give it a shot. After some research, here's what I deduced and came up with:

- Washington (S)

- Wyoming (TE)

- Fresno St (LB)

- ODU (EDGE)

- Mankato (RC)

- Augustana (WR)

These are just hypotheticals only and not to be taken seriously.

^dunt chute da mssngr

- Washington (S)

- Wyoming (TE)

- Fresno St (LB)

- San Diego State (DT)

- ODU (EDGE)

- Mankato (RC)

- Augustana (WR)

- Lenoir-Rhyne (RB)

One more blindfolded dart throw...

Who knows. Next couple days?

Our Athletic Department hasn't even updated the coaching staff page yet on the website. Still shows Bubba and his staff.

Bush league stuff. Lazy.

Agreed. I’ve been critical of our athletic department in the past. Not even just the success of the programs, it also trickles down to this stuff as well.

Not acceptable. Needs to be addressed.

UND players in the portal as reported by the Forum:

UND (7): Augustus German, OL; Donavan Hunt, RB; Cole Hentges, QB; David Neuberger, LS; Isaac Folland, OL; Caden Cetak, DL; Trey Feeney, QB.

I didn’t know qb hentges was in the portal and I think neuberger is back

Did anyone else see that Walters (from RR) had a post on Twitter showing his Senior stats?

I can't find it now.

I can't understand why he'd be advertising himself if he's committed to SDSU/Danny

Since Rogers has left SDSU, maybe it's time for Coach Schmidt to pull a Rabbit out of the hat, so to speak.;)

Could UND be reaching out to Walters or are there restrictions on contacting athletes?

One way to initiate discussion is to have his former RR teammates try to convince him to switch. I don’t believe other schools are allowed to recruit players once signed to a school but there are ways to communicate indirectly. The kid lives in GF so it wouldn’t be difficult for him to know of UND’s interest.

For those who aren't familiar with Red River football, former UND player Vyrn Muir is the head coach, and former UND player and assistant coach Mike Mannausau is an assistant. There are also former RR players who are on the team at UND right now, such as Paine Parks and Lawson Lotysz.
