Berry knows that having her on his side is beneficial to him staying and the hockey program getting what they want.

The problem with that arrangement is that it fails to align with the fan bases desires......  post season success.   If KEM & BB were hanging green banners and constantly in the hunt, then all would be well in mudville.   That said, ignoring the game score and ramifications, the on ice performance is pretty distasteful at the moment.

You are correct in that statement but I am sure Berry's rebuttal will be his league titles and his average of 20+ wins a season.

He entered my mind, not sure coaching is his forte or desire but he is a winner.  I would be excited to have captain serious guiding the program.  But yeah, personal issues are is immediate concern.  I didn't hear about Bolivia or iawasca(sp), but something about healing tied to India.   Whatever works, more power and good thoughts to him.  He was one of my favorite players.

That falls outside of post season success.  Go undefeated every year and exit with a first round play off loss every year is nobody's idea of a good time.

You don't need to convince me, I am just thinking of what he would say to keep his job and to the average individual he has a pretty good resume.

1 NCAA title

5 league titles

4 Herb Brooks Coach of the year

1 USCHO Coach of the year

1 Spencer Penrose Award

I would like to see more shots from unexpected players, angles, and the creation of garbage in front of net.

Unexpected players?  Like players on the bench?  ;)
The problem with unexpected angle shots is that you have to hit the net...otherwise there's a good chance that the puck will ring around the boards and out of the zone.
I agree about the garbage though...they do need to start shooting if there is a good chance...they're caught in a "one more pass" mentality right now, trying to set up the perfect shot when most of the times they could just get the puck on net and hope for a juicy rebound.

If course it would be a jump, but still not a being enough jump to get him to UND. Maybe he goes to Michigan sometime since he’s coached there before, but let’s not put our self on an eternal pedestal.

I’d actually love to be proven wrong because him ending up here would be remarkable for our program. Our recruiting of talent is better than what a lot of people on here are saying, but the inability to get that talent to succeed is the massive problem (dead horse beaten)

Same with blind passes from the end wall to the front of the net.   And why they don't make that pass nearly as much as they do in HS.

Yes but that has nothing to do with levels of CC program vs UND’s. If you are comparing the two programs against each other, UND is much more enticing than CC.

Kids or no kids obviously has nothing to do with the programs themselves.  Not my point.

I don't care if they have ties to UND or not, but these are the ones I'd want. Hakstol and Schneekloth I feel would be long shots. These are some names I'd put out there as who I'd like to see running the show at UND.

  1. Aaron Schneekloth - He probably would only take an NHL assistant or head coaching position.
  2. Dave Hakstol - I'm for it as a short-term solution. I see him trying for another NHL job.
  3. Matt Smaby - USHL head coach.
  4. Garrett Raboin - Augustana head coach, if he wants to leave.
  5. Peter Mannino - Excellent recruiter, and he has that swager you'd want on the bench. Sorry @Godsmack I'd take him at UND.
  6. Marty Murray - WHL head coach and connections to Minot (NAHL).
  7. Mark Derlago - WHL assistant.
  8. Paul McFarland - NHL and OHL experience Memorial Cup champion and OHL Champion, WHL head coach.
  9. Mike Field - Was an associate head coach at ASU before leaving for Everett.
  10. Joey Frazer - WHL associate head coach from Brainard.
  11. Mark O'Leary - WHL head coach.
  12. Jeff Ulmer - forgot him originally, NHL and AHL assistant coach experience
  13. Eric Lang - AIC head coach, don't see him leaving the northeast and not sure he'd do better at bigger school.

These guys I'd see as assistants before being head coaches at UND

  1. Karl Goehring - I could see him being an associate head coach.
  2. Dillion Simpson - as an assistant. He needs to get into the USHL or WHL to get a head coaching job before I'd want him to be the head coach at UND.
  3. Colten St. Clair - as an assistant or associate head coach. Would like him to get a shot in the USHL again or WHL.
  4. Brad Malone - Would like to see more of what he does in the OHL first.

I don’t see Karl or Simpson being here if they change head coaches. It’s clear Berry has lost this team and hasn’t a clue how to get them back. Time for a change , when the students are chanting fire Berry it’s bad.

Can’t argue them being gone too. I just can’t see Karl as a head coach.

I can’t believe I forgot Ulmer on the list when I knew he was coaching somewhere.

Who are some examples of successful NCAA head coaches who came from the OHL or WHL? Not saying success hasn’t happened, I just can’t think of any examples myself.

Seems like the more common and safe route is going with an assistant from another college team or a quickly-rising young coach from the USHL or similar.
