It’s sure nice coming out of the gate hot and not having to worry about being a bubble team but I’ll take whatever has them playing the best hockey at the end of the year. Frustrating times now no doubt. Quote

TJ is a quality guy, but he's not starter material. Wonder if the team was partly discombobulated with Berg being absent & TJ not being solid. Anyone know if Strathmann or Croal ever returned to the game? Quote

SIOUXELEVENS Posted November 2 Posted November 2 How many chances is Berry going to get? He should be able to compete with any program and that’s not the case. 2 Quote
TrueSioux2000 Posted November 2 Posted November 2 Was at the game, the first period was…let’s say not good. They looked better after that but I would advise scoring some goals. Also, Lynah is kind of a dump Quote
brianvf Posted November 2 Author Posted November 2 https://www.grandforksherald.com/sports/und-hockey/slow-start-dooms-und-in-loss-to-cornell Doesn't sound too promising. Boys need to dig deep for a gutsy win tomorrow. Quote Defenseman Andrew Strathmann left the game in the first period after being hammered into the boards by 6-foot-6 forward Ondrej Psnicka. He did not return. Forward Cody Croal left the game in the second period after an open-ice, shoulder-to-shoulder hit. Berry said Strathmann is doubtful for the series finale at 6 p.m. Central on Saturday. He was unsure on Croal's condition immediately after the game. UND is already playing without four players due to injury. First-line center Cameron Berg, defenseman Bennett Zmolek, defenseman Tanner Komzak and goaltender Kaleb Johnson did not make the trip to Ithaca because of injuries. Quote

Popular Post Big A HG Posted November 2 Popular Post Posted November 2 We've had much better teams go out east and lose a game against worse teams than Cornell. Win tomorrow and all is good. I don't judge Berry for October, I judge Berry for the month of March. We're stuck with him for now, so reserving judgment on the season until then. Going on nine years.... 1 4 Quote

1972 Posted November 2 Posted November 2 I get it, it is early Nov. But we have seen this before, and it usually dosent end good. There has only been 2 games that UND has actually looked like the better team. And now a bunch of injuries. They say don't worry about Denver, but at this point, I'm not sure we are gonna get a home playoff series. 1 Quote
scpa0305 Posted November 2 Posted November 2 Overall tough game. The three goals on 4 shots to open the game was tough…but the fact we couldn’t muster any offense is the bigger concern. It’s early, but something looks off. The passing is atrocious. Throwing grenades all over the place, anyone see that first PP? We couldn’t make 10 ft routine passes. 1 Quote

It's your 7th game & you're playing a team that's only had 1 weak game against Toronto; you should be all over them & taking advantage of any rustiness they may have. Instead, you get a goalie who looked like a deer in the headlights & lazy, uninspired play for the first 30 minutes. It's like their mind is elsewhere. The 1st period looked like the guys had just met in July & it was the first organized hockey that they had played all year. The lack of urgency & erratic play is fast becoming a running theme for this team; it's like the players aren't internalizing the lessons & values of the coaching staff. A disconnect. You try to be optimistic, especially this early in the year, but this team is too inconsistent to get excited about. Great one game, invisible the next. And like you said, an avalanche of injuries all at once. If the team ever needed a win, it's tonight. Hobie will have all the pressure of the program on his shoulders to keep this team from sinking any more; which isn't fair for him, so hopefully he likes the pressure. 2 Quote
