Offense got to see today how teams will play them from here on out. The upgrade at O-cord is noticeable. Don't want to proclaim too much yet, but it does continue to look like we have significantly upgraded at offensive coordinator and maybe even offensive line coach. Still want to see how year 2 looks like after a year of recruiting and transfer portal entrees into the program …

Still want to see how year 2 looks like after a year of recruiting and transfer portal entrees into the program … My guess is OL is a push at best.. gotta give a ton of credit to pawlak for building enough depth that we could lose 4 top notch OL and still be really good. A few years back that would have been recipe for disaster. Olson is doing awesome and let’s hope he can recruit as well as pawlak. OC is a really interesting comparison. Freuchte has been great at leaning into the strength of the team. Would be nice to see freuchte calling plays for last years offense.. and have this years defense.

Second half has been better than the first.. only real complaints I have are QB play and our willingness to kick the ball out of bounds. Neither of which are the aged leaders fault. I don’t believe that bubba selects the qb but that’s just me.

I think romfo completed as many throws to the other team as our team in the first half. 5/13 with 2 ints won’t get it done against a decent team. if we are sticking with romfo, I would like to see him more involved in the run game like the Montana game. Yesterday all he did was hand off the ball and make a bunch of questionable throws.. outside of two wide open completions to belquist. I would love to be a fly on the wall in the qb room when they are watching a replay of the game.

I just think everything we saw last year that people would say Bubba is calling the offense……the new OC has shown not to be true. And last year vs Sac St…..new OC would have run the damn ball all day.
90siouxfan
Perhaps there is a dynamic where Danny's mind set was "Do what Bubba would do." where Isaac having less ties to Bubba is of the mind set "Do what it takes with what we got". He also probably watches Simon struggle with pass placement and knows in practice Simon is not struggling with those throws, a mental thing that can be fixed?
zonadub
How much of the second half dominance should be credited to the new S & C coach. Very impressive durability this season.

Romfo certainly did better the second half but the first half was brutal. So far he has thrown some of the worst passes I have seen from our quarterbacks in a long time. After the first half we had 11 yards passing with a couple of interceptions and it's early in the season - and most of them were short gimmes. Given Bubba's history the back-ups must have realized that there is no way they are going to get a shot this year. A potential recipe for trouble. UNDColorado
Credit to San Diego, they are better than most of us thought. Yes, we did have our struggles but my hope is next week is an easy win so back ups can get some meaningful playing time because it get much harder in two weeks. I agree the passing in the first half was brutal, just hard to watch. However it's now on film that if you stack the box Romfo does have the ability to go over the top so that will give coordinators something to think about. Every time I counted there was at least 8 in the box. Every time.

Well executed play. 1

My biggest beef from yesterday is the defense consistently leaving receivers wide open. That must be addressed before the meat of our schedule gets here. Popular Post Parkers Pros
OC picks the quarterback and tells the coach the way he and the other coaches think it should be. Coach takes in that info and combines it with his own observations and intuition and makes a call. Simon earned all their trust. You impatient jackals calling for Simon’s head are crazy. We are ranked in the top 10 right now with him as our quarterback. I actually find it good that we have room to grow at that position. We have a developing offensive line in pass protection. We have a quarterback, who is coming off of several years of not playing. He just needs a little more time to marinate. Just relax everyone. This feels like the deepest team we’ve ever had. 6

If on the other hand, we start to fail, then you can make a change and the whole team will understand why. 3
Oxbow6
So I have watched all 16 quarters to date and I'm curious to hear from the Fantasy Football wizards, Madden gurus and Kelly Green glasses wearing rubes on this site how you would rate UND's QB play to date based on past UND QB play and overall FCS QB play over the past few years. If you haven't watched at least 10 quarters this season sit this one out. Rating system: Excellent Above average Average Below average Poor
