UND Football Fan Posted yesterday at 03:16 AM Posted yesterday at 03:16 AM 2 plays that were huge first half was parting of the Red Sea on the long run by Miller. I may be like Mongo but not having a man on Miller was either a poor call or poor communication on defense. The failed 4th down at midfield gave NDSU a short field with several timeouts to score. Playmakers make plays in big games, MSU had their one especially 2nd half, SU had Miller and Lance make big plays. Hopefully we can find that heading to next Fall. 1 Quote
Wilbur Posted yesterday at 03:18 AM Posted yesterday at 03:18 AM Better team won. Defense doesn't win championships anymore. You've got to be attack mentality. Hopefully tentative football is gone from the UND playbook. 2 Quote
Siouxperfan7 Posted yesterday at 03:18 AM Posted yesterday at 03:18 AM Play of the game was the Lance catch on 3rd down when the Cats had all the momentum getting it to a 3 point game. The Miller long run was huge too. But that’s what these games come down to sometimes. A handful of plays by either team. 1 Quote

I’m pretty sure it can’t get any worse, so I think (and hope) it’s all going to just get better from here on out, but have to cleanse UND of all this negativity and pessimism also. It will come with time and success … after all, everyone loves a bandwagon, although the biggest motherf*ckin bandwagon sits in Fargo on the NDSU campus with the likes of Burgum and now Kelly Armstrong and such, but oh well, politics … Want to fix this? As the situation has always been, UND needs to do something about it (not wait because that hasn’t worked for 1.5 decades). It worked for South Dakota State, now it’s UND’s turn … be proactive and get it done. Things are happening to at least get the process started …. Quote
Wilbur Posted yesterday at 04:08 AM Posted yesterday at 04:08 AM Vigen kind of reminded me of Bubba during that game. Always with a weird look on his face, and there was never a sense that they were in control of the game, even when they were making a push the second half. On to next year, anybody want to guess the two teams in the championship right now? 1 Quote

Last time we won a hockey national title, copies of the Grand Forks Herald in Imperial Cass County were turned facing backwards because the front page had the team photo with the trophy. So screw them. And all those UND alums that have jumped on the bandwagon to "be a part of it", enjoy yourselves. But please don't bother coming back to us. UND is almost completely irrelevant in the region now. Bad programs up and down the line. No buzz. No nothing. And too many people have become desensitized to it. If our hockey program misses the national tournament again, watch people on here respond with #butthepenrose. It's enough to make me sick. This just illustrates how frustrating our programs are - watching the Bison and Denver repeatedly get it done while we hand out extensions for participation trophies. Berry needs to be coaching for his and Chaves' jobs. We need to start getting it done or get people in there who will - how long did we go with Bubba after it was clear what we had? Same with hockey (but but but Penrose). We have given up the high ground and need to have a plan to get to the top again. 2 Quote

Yep, UND has to turn it around and quickly and start getting in the mix and take part it knocking NDSU down a peg. Currently SDSU is the only other FCS contender to the throne, and their team and staff just got gutted. In the next 10 years I'd be surprised if anyone outside of the Dakotas or Montana wins it. One advantage the rest of us Dakotas have is we get to play NDSU each year, as the 360 guys have mentioned a few times. I think if MSU had played NDSU annually for the past 4 years they would have had a better chance to win tonight and would have started out stronger in today's game as they would be more familiar with them. You can watch all the game film you want but until you go up against it you really don't know. We may not be deep playoff contenders right away next year(although I tbink we have a cjsnce to surprise) but we can do our part by upsetting them in Grand Forks next year to try and help get NDSU pushed out of the top two seeds. I would love if someone outside of the Dakotas and Montana stepped up their game. It was better and felt less watered down when JMU etc. were FCS. Although even then it typically seemed like it was really ever only a two or three horse race. We need to be one or those horses going forward. 1 Quote
shep Posted yesterday at 01:24 PM Posted yesterday at 01:24 PM If we want a sense of hope just recall that 16 months ago, UND defeated, dare I say crushed, the Bison in GF. Quote

They are in the top 3-4 every year until someone does something about it, which with limited resources the Incarnate Word's of the worlds have, good luck. One of the teams that did had a mass exodus, so really right now it's them and South Dakota, and Montana schools have a punchers chance. Personal opinion is that if they stay in the lower level another 50 years they'll win like 30+ subdivision national championships. And that's a low guess if other possible contenders move up to FBS. At what point does FCS really become inundated with all the D2 schools to make this even more watered down? Quote
