So, 8 teams ranked in the pre-season poll.

And not 1 team from the WCHA.

Maybe I crossed over into the Twilight Zone & that's why I'm seeing MSU at #4. MI at #7 also a little surprising considering how many they lost early this summer.

What does BU's incoming class look like besides Eiserman?

The early trip to Cornell this year will be a doozy.

The whole early season schedule will be very tough, and hopefully the guys can take care of business...as that would set up the PWR nicely...or hurt it if they don't do too well.

#13 Providence HOF Game
#3 BU 2x Home
#9 Cornell 2x Road
#18 UMD 2x Road
#1 DU 2x Home

That's all in the first two months.  Dang, that's a brutal start.

If we're still in the top 10 after that, we've earned it.

Who other than Wodon voted Cornell #1? Clearly a range in opinions on how good they'll be.

I think Wodon voted twice.

Given the late date ... (and now that the rest of the MN roster is set) ...

I wonder if he was told by Motzko that he wouldn't be on top line, or maybe not even second line (they have some real talent coming in at forward positions).  He did get benched at times last year.

I have a feeling Motzko was told by Pitlick he was signing.  Bob was on KFAN during the state fair and essentially said that.  I don't have the exact quotes but it lead me to believe he was going pro.

I’m going to that Cornell series and noticed it’s their season opener. They have a scrimmage against Princeton and an exhibition game before that. We should be well tested by then, so hopefully it’s a good series.

We owe them for sweeping us here a few years ago, so hopefully they repay the favor.

CHN listed its top 10 recruiting classes for this year:

https://www.collegehockeynews.com/news/2024/09/19_Top-Recruiting-Classes-For.php

They voted based on which recruiting classes they figured to have the most impact on their teams this year, so it's not surprising that UMD with its massive 11-freshmen class mixed with good skill players takes the top spot.  UND comes in at #4.

1. UMD
2. BC
3. BU
4. UND
5. WMU
6. Prov
7. UW
8. UMN
9. Mich
10. DU

Honorable mention: CC, Merrimack, PSU, Northeastern

Quote

UND’s eight-man class is highlighted by a pair of first-round picks in Sacha Boisvert (Chicago) and E.J. Emery (New York Rangers). Along with the reigning USHL Player of the Year, Mac Swanson, and defenseman Andrew Strathmann.

The Boisvert addition is especially intriguing as the 6-foot-2, 183-pound center could be a factor offensively, as evident by his 113 points (53-60-113) over two USHL seasons. He’s also been a dependable 200-foot center and should complement a forward group that includes Cameron Berg, Owen McLaughlin and Jayden Perron.

Despite his size at 5-foot-8 and 175 pounds, few USHL players showed the instincts or were as respected as Swanson. Swanson led Fargo to a USHL record 50 regular-season wins and racked up 132 points over 112 career games, along with back-to-back finals appearances.

He was named the league’s Player and Forward of the Year, along with the USHL’s Clark Cup Most Outstanding Player and USA Hockey’s Junior Player of the Year. It never hurts to bring in a winning pedigree either.

Went to the CC season ticket holder fan fest today and got to meet the players. Sweet new road sweaters with the Tiger crest on the front…finally.
My wife had fun conversation with Mbereko, Laba, Montgomery, Wisdom and others and they all had a good laugh at my expense. :):) But all in good fun. But seriously, UND, let’s get some payback against the Tigers in February!

I thought they had these already when they changed the logo

UAA 7- GCU 1

Alaska 5 - GCU 4

GCU with their first time playing NCAA D1 teams. They were close halfway through the 2nd then UAA put them away. Against Alaska they came back being down 3-0.

Hopefully they can find a way to have these games in the future like UNLV

It would be interesting to know what UND pays non-conference opponents. If Milewski can find out, Brad probably can too.

Usually nothing if there's a return trip involved.

We went to BU; they're coming. Cornell came here; we're going. Likely no cash either way.

Nice! Chicago is an easy flight or even drive. Be nice to win title #12 in the house that Toews built.

Is that some kind of spoiler alert? Aren't you supposed to give that warning first?
