Goon Posted January 4, 2024 Posted January 4, 2024 This has been a pretty good game. The second period was really good. Quote

sioux rube Posted January 4, 2024 Posted January 4, 2024 Another weak call like the Finns penalty Quote
BigGreyAnt41 Posted January 4, 2024 Posted January 4, 2024 I was ready for Augustine to get pulled after that second goal. He proved himself after that though and locked it down. 1 Quote
Wilbur Posted January 4, 2024 Posted January 4, 2024 Should be a great atmosphere for the gold. Quote

brianvf Posted January 5, 2024 Posted January 5, 2024 Also...it's good to see that the US doesn't do that stupid stick raise crap after they score goals like DU does...maybe that came down from Carle. Quote

My god, that was a terrible call (both were terrible calls but more so the one against Finland) Quote
Godsmack Posted January 5, 2024 Posted January 5, 2024 And then the officiating crew doesn’t know the rules of icing. That blown icing call with 6 seconds left really screwed over Finland if you think about it. Had the official gotten it right and waited to blow his whistle until after the puck had crossed the far red line, then there probably would’ve been 4 maybe 5 ticks left on the clock and an offensive zone faceoff for Finland. Instead, the officials huddle and determine they messed up so they do a center ice faceoff with 6 seconds to play. You ask the Finns what they would’ve rather had-a center ice faceoff with 6 seconds or an O zone faceoff with 4 or 5 seconds. Don’t get me wrong, I’m very happy the U.S. won the game but I hate seeing bad calls/missed calls that could potentially affect the outcome. 4 Quote

The game should have been over either way as the Finland player touched the puck before it crossed the goal line so icing should have been waved off anyway. They would have had to turn and go 200 feet in 6 seconds. No chance. In hindsight, the blown icing call and faceoff moved to center ice actually gave Finland a better chance than they should have had. Quote
sioux rube Posted January 5, 2024 Posted January 5, 2024 Finland up on Czechia 5-3 after 2. Entertaining game Quote
LuvHockey Posted January 5, 2024 Posted January 5, 2024 Wow. 5-5 with under 2 min left. Czecks with 3 ppg 1 shortie and 1 empty net. None 5X5. Odd. Quote
LuvHockey Posted January 5, 2024 Posted January 5, 2024 Well take that back. 5 sec later first 5X5 for 6-5 lead by Czech with 1:40 left Quote
sioux rube Posted January 5, 2024 Posted January 5, 2024 What a crazy entertaining game that was. Wow Quote

sioux rube Posted January 5, 2024 Posted January 5, 2024 In the last 20 years of the tournament, USA is 5-1 in gold medal games and Sweden is 1-5. Let’s hope it goes to 6-1 and 1-6 1 Quote
