We had Muss for 6 years and Rudy for 5. We complain about it, but no one seems to have the will to demand something different. Hopefully Chaves will have the stones Bubba seems to lack. Football will never be king in Grand Forks, it's a hockey town first and foremost. Hell, when was the last time Grand Forks had a decent high school football team?
Cratter
Here's a recap of the last game Nate Ketteringham played for at Sac State. This is what Sac States own website lists: Quote Nate Ketteringham struggled to find his rhythm, completing 9-of-25 passes for 75 yards. http://www.hornetsports.com/sports/fball/2016-17/releases/20161119uq12qa Then the head coach fired his QB coach and went out and signed two QB transfers in the offseason to replace Ketteringham. Ketteringham was asked by the staff to transfer: Quote Two-year starting junior quarterback Nate Ketteringham was asked to transfer earlier this spring semester and has been granted his release along with the permission to talk to other universities. Ouch! Then Bubba says: "Sure 2-9 record Sac State, We'll take your third best QB!"

Longtime fan
-Now that Sammy got blown out of the water ....Unds two wins this year have a combined 1-5 record. Mvsu is rated last in fcs. Und had its struggles against mvsu as shown in the fact that they kept their starters in all game -no way in hell does a good team lose to Idaho st at home for their homecoming........und is currently not good - sick and tired of being below average. -$&@#^%!! -

A couple of years ago, FBS North Texas got absolutely pummeled by Portland St. Now they still are unbeaten, with a beat down win against Arkansas. Nicholls St beat Sam Houston by 20. Sammy was not at all deserving of a #5 ranking but just was ranked on precedence. Idaho St had a much better defense than I was expecting. Are comparing North Texas against NDSU and UND? Enrollment at UNT is 38,000. So, North Texas is a lot bigger school than any of the Dakota Schools. Swing and a miss.

And UNC's in state competition did everything they could for the longest time to suck balls too.

I think of it more locally, recruiting becomes more difficult with our neighbor school having so much success. It is also more difficult to sell athletes on UND when that same neighbor school is clearly a football first school while UND is clearly a hockey first school. The athletes do get treated differently. It isn't students filling the stadium for UND games, most other schools the students are big portion of the draw. UND can win a national title but it will take depth and some pretty big talent development. We are a ways off right now, although we have a few bright spots on the field like Mason Bennett. Well now we're changing it from top dog sport at UND to "NDSU is a good football school." No doubt its hard to compete with a local FCS football team that has been the most dominant FCS/AA team in history...by Far! No other team in the country seems to be able to win a Natty right now until someone blows up NDSU. UND already won a football championship when it was still a hockey first school. This argument then doesn't hold any water simply because its now FCS. UND student attendance at football games is in the top half of all FCS games. I think you're overestimating FCS schools. Did you watch the Sam Houston State game? Empty stadium with only 5,000 people. And that is with back to back national semi final game appearances. UND has some of the nicest FCS facilities in the country in the indoor practice facility and the Alerus complex. Along with some of the highest attended FCS games in the country. 26th nationally last year. (If UND averaged 11,500...tonights attendance.... They would be Top 20 in attendance.)
LeaveNoDoubt
Like I said, Keaton wanted to win no matter that was going on, yes he was not the best “D1” qb but that guy wanted to win us games. I didn’t see that today

Still the only UND QB to lead a win over an FBS team and then followed that up by having the best year in UND FCS history: 8-0 Big Sky record and playoffs.

I get taking chances but that call in the that situation was just stupid and it is the reason ISU scored. Schmidt should not get a pass. It was a simple adjustment to make and it took til halftime? That doesn’t make sense. That’s two games in a row where the 360 guys had the adjustment figured out before our DC. Either he is too prideful when his game plan isn’t working or is just plain slow. Neither is good obviously.

darell1976
My take of the game: No run defense Passing D looked soft Why doesn’t Santiago run the ball more and lose the QB draws. Bad passes, either too high or right into coverage. Alerus needs to lose the music in between plays, too damn loud, can’t be good inside the huddle. Rudolph needs be gone as of today and have someone else or even Bubba call the plays. If UND goes 3-8 or 4-7 heads need to start rolling, this game was embarrassing.
