2017 Season

I sure wish we could play Georga Tech again, this time without the 4 games in 2 day's before and a 5hr bus ride.  Result might be different.  Sure excited to watch this team the rest of the season.

I love watching this team play. We were good last year but look much improved this season.

The last weekends teams were all weak, so UND needs to take a clear break from mental and other errors that were more prevalent in the SDSU game.  This team doesn't seem to be back to the form that was shown in the last month of last year's season.  Merseli especially hasn't been up to her standard of excellence.

I think some of the errors are the fact that it's early, they had the long road trip so practices were likely a bit sparse, and the home competition has been weak. I expect those things to be cleaned up and the team start to perform a bit sharper now that they've been able to be home and practice for a bit.

As a Herald article said, Cal Poly got a 6'3" transfer from UCLA that was a freshman who made the All-PAC12 team named Torrey Van Winden.  She has an older sister that also starts for Cal Poly.  In volleyball and in other minor sports, there is no waiting periods for transfers, like in football, basketball and hockey.  She just transferred effective August 17th, so Cal Poly got a potential program making player under a month ago.

If UND wins tomorrow morning, it would arguably be the biggest accomplishment so far in program history.

Play Cal Poly at 10:00 am will be an adjustment for the team.  Even more so for Poly.  Hopefully no slow start today.  Need to jump on this team early to get confidence and momentum.

What is the logical reason to require the waiting period in some sports and not others?  It would seem that the NCAA should look at Student-Athletes equally and treat them equally ... like they did with programs and their application of the hostile and abusive nickname policy (so purple).

There is a major initiative in the NCAA now to drop all transfer rules so it would be like volleyball.  SDSU's AD is on the committee pushing the legislative change.  There is a lot of fear by the G5 and midmajor mbb programs that they would lose any star player.  But their have been cases where the opposite happens.

Merseli seems to be getting back to her fine form.  11 kills so far in the 2nd set.

UND wins set 2, 25-23.  2-0 but worried, as GB might be tough to close out.

UND wins set 3, 25-21, sweeps the sets.  The goal is now to go undefeated in Big Sky play and only three losses on the season.  That's a reasonable goal with this team.

UND 25 IUPUI 18 in the first set, Merseli hasn't slowed down.

IUPUI won the second set 25-19.  Something is wrong with this team or IUPUI may good adjustments.  Absolutely getting demolished by hitting in that set and IUPUI is matching the blocking.
