If UND doesn't make the NCAA's you'll find tickets available by the fist full. Scheels Arena is 10 minutes from my house so we'll go regardless but UND not making it would be a huge failure for this team. Arguing anything less is ignorant.

Agree 100%...

I'm not going to look for regional tickets if we find out UND doesn't make it. I'm willing to pay the price and take my chances right now if ticket holders have already given up.

If ifs and buts were candy and nuts, there would be plenty of treats for all the kids at Christmas too.

I'm guessing 30 NCAA teams have also played at least 1 game this season that made them think they're capable of winning a national championship.

Great! Would hate to read any team gave up on themselves... Especially after a loss like that against a higher ranked team playing on home ice! It happens, just so the boys don't throw in the towel.

I guess this logic doesn't apply to the Chicago Blackhawks with their logo and not so great city (given specific areas) of Chicago. Oh, wait, they have 3 cups in 6 years. Just saying.

The city's new motto is "Cup raising and gang banging"!

Who keeps bitching about skill and talent? This team has more there than the the injury year season and Rocco's campaign years so shut it

Team needs garbage goals a string of confidence going forward.

I think the talent is down - other that the three that will probably be gone next year we have no one that can put the puck in the net.  And the defense - well have you watched them?  Weak clearing around the goal and in the slot, can't start a rush consistently, and some who get used for about a goal a game.  So, no, I am not going to shut it.  This is a fan forum not your personal Facebook account.  That's what we do on fan boards - discuss our opinions.  If you think I am wrong then make your point.  Who other than the big three have a big offensive upside?  Which defensemen are studs or going to be studs?  Name the talent you see and lets have a discussion.

Intangible reason to explain the men's hockey teams fate....FB, VB won league championships....MBB and WBB currently in first place in the conference.....All these sports embrace the new nickname/logo....hockey does not!!!!  Get on board with that..and maybe fortunes will change....Seriously just as much logic as dedication, heart, selfish play, bad bounces, lack film study,etc.....that has been belabored to death on this site....

Those decrying the name/logo change are about as 'valid in thought' as those who decry 'Trump is not a valid president'.....get over yourself....and put your energies into things that are realistic to  'decry'!!!!!  Spend a week on a Native American Reservation (not at a casino or accompanying motel) trying to understand their issues and culture and maybe you will have a change of heart on the issue...not just P & M about losing a cool sweatshirt design!!!!

Were you pissed when the football team didn't embrace the Sioux Logo?

We need to bring in a buttload of talent next year or it will be the second year of the slide.  We will have almost no scorers returning and defense that regularly puke up goals andhave trouble moving the puck.  A lot of dead weight that we are not used to having.

This is kinda what I'm thinking too. Even if we only lose Boeser and Jost up front I think I'd still bring in Mismash, Jones, Adams, Mattson, and maybe Kawaguchi too. I also wouldn't be surprised to see a transfer or 2 up front and that may be the best for both sides. Defensively there really doesn't seem to be a whole lot of choices to make. You lose Ausmus and Poolman and bring in Bast, Kiersted, and Rieger.

" hate to be blunt, but we completely dominated that game, the way our team played tonight we could win a national championship"  Tyson Jost

They have the pieces, they just need to keep believing and maybe, just maybe the bounces will start happening in their favor (for a change!) when it's most important!

I do like his comment from an optimistic standpoint but it's pretty easy to say that when the ship is taking on water, you've missed a number of games for various reasons and you're a 1 and done kid in this program.

Kawaguchi is a lock to come in next year.

Weak clearling attempts and plays from the D starts with CONFIDENCE. Their tentative/transition game, which sucks, with its glass and out is contingent to the theory in reducing the small margin of error. Again, it's from confidence and not trying to make mistakes. Hence, the crappy play

C. Poolman and Penski (given his progression) have had a respectful freshman campaign. Freshman "D", generally speaking and their  transition to college is one of the harder positions to adapt to, given the college skill, speed and physicality level.

C. Johnson is he great now? No. In his junior/senior year, will he be good? He "Should be" trending with that vision/goal.  He's a 4-year player.  In addition, "should be" a good 4-year player.

Scoring issues with the forwards? Again, that comes from confidence too. See Wilkie, perfect example. You don't score 35 goals in your last year in the USHL if you're a mediocre player. College level is a whole new ballgame and it's a tough adjustment for "most" players unless you're elite. See Brock, Jost, Oshie, Toews, Parise, Stafford, Zajac, Nelson, Drake, Duncan, Bochenski etc.

Anymore brain busters?

Nobody said anything about giving up on the season - but Jost talking about NCAA championships is a bit much given this team's current state of affairs.

Really, talent is down.  Who'd have thunk losing 4 guys who are playing in the Big show and replacing them with rookies that we would be down a little? The thing is, we probably wouldn't be having this discussion if the talent you mentioned had been playing, or putting up points in the last several weeks. If you would have told me that through injuries and other factors Boeser would be tied for 86th in the country in goal scoring, I would expect us be struggling for home ice.

You need to get there first and as UMD has shown anything can happen.

Yea, that UMD team really limped into the field of 16, didn't they?

No your right they were picked to win at as the number one overall seed.

22-10-6 headed into the tournament.  What does UND have this season, 15 wins?

Ok fine ,I believe this team is better then fifteen wins ,in a one and done maybe they play to their potential.

A loss to MSU...a tie against MSU...a loss to CC...a pulled-it-outta-their-butts win against CC...maybe .500 IS this team's potential.

This team is exactly what their record says they are, an average team.
