Popular Post UNDBIZ Posted November 7, 2016 Popular Post Posted November 7, 2016 That logo is still terrible and it's not UND merchandise. To those who spend $20 on a non-UND bird shirt as an act of protest, a fool and his money are soon parted. 6 Quote
Siouxperfan7 Posted November 7, 2016 Posted November 7, 2016 Not sure what the end game is here for the guys who came up for this design. Do they think people are going to buy this alternate "Fighting Hawk" merchandise so they can protest the name and logo? People can already wear there Sioux merchandise if they want to do that! 1 Quote

This hat is in the 'not bad' category for me... which I assure you is a good thing I'm sure you can get these pretty cheap down at the Post Office... Quote

Don't get me wrong, it's a nice enough looking logo I'm kinda with Siouxperfan7 in wondering what the end game is. 1 Quote
darell1976 Posted January 4, 2017 Posted January 4, 2017 I was at the Fargo Scheels store looking at the Fighting Hawks stuff, and noticed more and more with the new logo including little lego sets with a zamboni, and what looks like a press conference stage with a head coach. I did buy a Fighting Hawks football shirt with the logo on the helmet. Not too much of a UND section considering its in the middle of Bison territory. 1 1 Quote
darell1976 Posted January 21, 2017 Posted January 21, 2017 I noticed at Target in Fargo the UND shirts with the interlocking ND had massively disappeared and a lot of Fighting Hawks shirts are now appearing more and more. Quote
bincitysioux Posted January 24, 2017 Posted January 24, 2017 So, seeing as how North Dakota was the Big Sky football champions this year, is there anywhere that there is any apparel available indicating as such. I'd like a Big Sky Champions hat or something. 3 Quote

bigskyvikes Posted February 23, 2017 Posted February 23, 2017 Didn't I read on here that the ND logo was also going away? Weird if that is true, especially since I received this email today that says, "new game day arrivals"! Quote

Just pick one! Quote

Interlocking ND is technically still in use, at least until the ice melts. Quote

Cratter Posted February 26, 2017 Posted February 26, 2017 The Sioux logo went away too but I can still buy that stuff brand new from the Ralph. Quote

They might be holding off on that since the new logo is winning any popularity contests amongst the hockey fans. At the end of the day, they need to sell stuff that people will by and given a choice a lot of people will still buy the interlocking ND logo over the postal hawk logo. So yea my guess is that for now, they might be holding off on retiring the ND logo that Notre Dame appropriated from us. Quote

Or they may be able to make it under their agreement as a historical logo anyway? Quote

Look at everything from the NHL's vintage collections to Moutain Dew throwback. Even the Sioux Logo will continue to be made in limited number to maintain the trademark since the old interlocking ND logo doesn't have a political shitstorm attached to its usage I would bet that they will continue to use it so long as people buy it. Football, and basketball is really making a huge stride in marketing the logo. Hockey is lacking obviously, but with more and more of the logo appearing in the REA (ice, jerseys, merchandise) it will become more popular among the hockey only fans. Why would they keep the interlocking ND logo just to please the hockey fans? They didn't keep the Sioux logo to please them, and they were the most vocal to keep the name and logo at ALL costs. 2 2 Quote

Siouxperfan7 Posted March 10, 2017 Posted March 10, 2017 I can't imagine how much interlocking ND stuff that the Sioux Shop and other stores have. Can't blame them for trying to sell it and get rid of it before that logo is officially retired. Obviously it appeals to people who don't like the Fighting Hawks logo. Much like the Sioux merchandise, people will stock up on interlocking ND merchandise. But eventually, all you will be able to buy will be Fighting Hawk merchandise. We will see both the Sioux logo and the interlocking ND logo for many years to come. However, it is noce to see more and more Fighting Hawks merchandise out there. 1 1 Quote

I am seeing Fighting Hawks gear in stores like Target where it was just the interlocking ND. The Fighting Hawks logo is selling more merchandise besides clothing at the Fargo Scheels store like keychains, flags, legos. I am sure the Siouxshop will continue to sell the interlocking ND until its all been replaced by the Fighting Hawks gear. Wait until the new hockey jerseys come out, you will see more of that and less and less of the interlocking ND in their shop. 1 2 Quote

From a business standpoint in tight economic times, UND may just have to sell the people what they want. 4 Quote
