UNDMOORHEAD Posted August 14, 2019 Posted August 14, 2019 Not pretty, but a win is a win. It's time to get hot and go on a run. Quote

He was pitching really well in SF, just got rushed into a stupid situation on day 1 and couldn't get it together on his 2nd outing. Hopefully, a trip on the DL helped him mentally as much physically. We need Rocco to trust him. 1 Quote
Wilbur Posted August 14, 2019 Posted August 14, 2019 Theme from last night....Rocco bailed out again...... In hold situations past the 7th inning the order of operations should be: Duffy, Dyson, Romo, Rodgers. And insert May as a last resort. It's also a great time for them to figure out their left handed specialist. Is it Thorpe? Is it Smeltzer? No way should Harper be pitching to a lefty in the 7th with a two run lead and the tying runs on. 1 Quote

Harper had a pretty good first half of the season, but he's been really rough for the past month or so. I don't necessarily disagree with you but Rocco can't pitch Romo and Rogers every day. Not to mention Rogers has been horrendous on the second day of pitching back to back. Other guys are going to have to piece some innings together when you have a starting staff as inconsistent as the Twins have. Not saying Rocco is above criticism but to say he's been bailed out all season.....meh. Quote

Or had thrown Dyson in the 7th and seen what he could have done. Yes, they need to figure out other pitchers in the pen outside of Rogers and Romo, but this wasn't the matchup for Harper to start the inning last night. Duffey and/or May is the key the rest of the way. Dyson had a good outing but want to see a couple of more before putting him in the box with Rogers and Romo. If one or both put it all together in August and September, they might have enough. Plus.... Thorpe is capable and there is the rumbling of potentially bringing up Graterol to help as well. Of course it could have been worse, they could have signed Kimbrel (Twins were wise to pass on him) Quote

Let's see if Gibson can hold up his end of the deal and the bats can add some runs as we go. EDIT: No sooner do I submit this message and Gibson goes lead off single, passed ball, walk...... Quote

He's following Perez's start from last night, wigging out of danger and being shaky. At least this is bad Gibby and not god awful Gibby from his last start. He also had a good eye at the plate Quote
SiouxFan100 Posted August 14, 2019 Posted August 14, 2019 Cleveland loses and twins are up late. I will temporarily step back from the edge Quote
SWSiouxMN Posted August 14, 2019 Posted August 14, 2019 Polanco has had an AWFUL series from the field Quote
Wilbur Posted August 14, 2019 Posted August 14, 2019 Polanco really set the table for this late loss. Romo has been good, but was due to blow one eventually. Quote
SWSiouxMN Posted August 14, 2019 Posted August 14, 2019 This is why people had the questions about Polanco being the long-term answer at SS. Quote
SiouxScore Posted August 14, 2019 Posted August 14, 2019 Romo made one mistake and the guy took advantage of it, problem was an error and a seeing eye single made it the 3 run home run to take the lead instead of just a solo shot. Twins have also missed a few different opportunities with less than 2 out and guys in scoring position today, have to take advantage and add on in those situations. Quote
SiouxScore Posted August 14, 2019 Posted August 14, 2019 Nice threat built by the Twins loading the bases with 2 outs in the 9th. Ump bailed out a struggling pitcher who had thrown 9 balls in a row I believe with a strike that was well low. That one really changed the at bat for Cron from 2-0 to 1-1 makes a huge difference. jodcon Posted August 14, 2019 Posted August 14, 2019 I'm catching myself checking the Cleveland scores way too often lately, subconsciously putting more value on them losing than the Twins winning is not a good sign. Quote
SWSiouxMN Posted August 14, 2019 Posted August 14, 2019 Well Twins: Your next 16 games are against sub .500 opponents. Go at least 12-4 ok? Quote

Me too goes to do you want your team to be very good and dominate or wish others to lose 1st choice is to dominate 2nd choice is for others to lose Quote

He really needs to take a few days off to reset and rest, he has not been that great since the All-Star Break. Quote
jodcon Posted August 15, 2019 Posted August 15, 2019 Looks like we can't count on the Indians losing tonight. We need to win Twins, we need to score... Quote

Well it is in the Bronx, so they could come back with that offense against a rookie pitcher making his first start in New York. Edit: Never mind... Quote
sioux rube Posted August 16, 2019 Posted August 16, 2019 Twins bats have awoken. Up 11-3 in the 6th Quote
