gfhockey
maybe could have got him to be a DC but I think schdmit will doo well we do need a special teams coach?
homer
Schmidty will do fine as D Cord. It would be awesome if somehow we could put some money together to get Tibs back here for even one year in some capacity. He would boost the staff even further and help player development so much with his knowledge and experience. Very unlikely I know, but I can wish. Hayduke
Can't afford him. He'll end up in the NFL somewhere. Or at a BCS school.
geaux_sioux
He could coach the kickers
Westside
It would've been a long shot to get Tibesar to UND as HC. He's not coming back as a position coach. Worst case scenario for Tibesar is he ends up as a LB coach at an FBS school. Like Hayduke said we can't afford him.
geaux_sioux
What sucks for him is that his coaching didn't make all his lbs get injured this year. Somebody had to be the fall guy I guess.
Siouxperfan7
Tibesar is awesome....but the Bears suck!!

He appeared to be the fall guy for their defensive problems. Other teams aren't stupid enough to believe that was his fault. He'll land on his feet. ksixpack
For those of you that said he would never consider UND because he is making 350K in the NFL, as he and the rest of you just found out, the NFL is not forever and 200-400K per year at UND for a long time, possibly the rest of his career if everything went as planned is more then 350K for one year. Yes 400+K would easily be his earnings in future years at UND if he had any mild success at all and that success would be totally dependent on his performance as head coach... his success is not as controlled as an assistant coach, especially in the NFL. Job security and safe earnings potential was much greater as the head coach of UND. I am sure he would have applied if he knew he would have been out of a job at the end of the year. It will most likely be awhile before he makes it back to the NFL again...rookie coaches that get fired generally do not get rehired right away in the NFL. As Jerry Glanville once said the NFL stands for Not For Long. It's not always about the money, especially when the money is here today and gone tomorrow...job security and safe earning potential should always be considered when making career decisions.

fightingsioux4life
Are you making the case he should have applied? Yes he is and I agree with him. College coaches that win have much more job security than NFL coaches (head or otherwise).
UNDBIZ
Yes he is and I agree with him. College coaches that win have much more job security than NFL coaches (head or otherwise). To be fair, NFL coaches who win and are not named Marty Schottenheimer also keep their jobs.
fightingsioux4life
To be fair, NFL coaches who win and are not named Marty Schottenheimer also keep their jobs. The NFL is more fickle than college. You have the salary cap, free agency, neurotic owners and general managers looking for a scapegoat when things go wrong. It is tougher to sustain long-term success in the NFL than it is in college.

I think Tibesar will get hired by someone before the 2014 campaign starts.

Not sure of his current NFL connections other than with Trestman, but I wouldn't be surprised.
ksixpack
Are you making the case he should have applied? No, because I do not know what his true ambitions are, but I am making a case for the many that thought it was ridiculous for him to apply because of the money...so many cannot see the forest through the trees.

Woden
Does anyone know where Tim Tibesar landed after losing his job with the Bears? You got me looking and I couldn't find anything. However, I did see that he was involved in a lawsuit with K-State. Anyone know anything about this?
82SiouxGuy
Does anyone know where Tim Tibesar landed after losing his job with the Bears? He's taking a long, paid vacation. He had at least another year left on his contract, so he's still getting paid for the year.
zonadub
So, does anyone know what Tibesar is doing now? Could he make the switch from defense to offense? Or maybe Bollinger has decided he wants to return to coaching...
geaux_sioux
What?
zonadub
Just saying after watching the Packers destroy the Bears that Tibesar was probably picked to be the scapegoat with the Bears defense. Not very impressed with Rudolph so far this season.
