jdub27 Posted December 9, 2013 Posted December 9, 2013 Former Mankato coach Todd Hoffner has applied per WDAZ. Has some distant ties to UND, was a Grad Asst Coach, I assume while he got his master's here. Quote
jodcon Posted December 9, 2013 Posted December 9, 2013 It's been released already, I guess 4 new got added today...but they didn't even say who they were, all they said was "no local flare"...so best guess is that they are of same quality as majority already on list. Pflu hands down front runner now, according to most on here. It closes tomorrow at midnight though correct, or did I remember that wrong? Quote

Has some distant ties to UND, was a Grad Asst Coach, I assume while he got his master's here. I don't know how successful he was at Mankato but he made some big headlines last year. Here is an ESPN story on him - http://espn.go.com/espn/otl/story/_/id/9308806/ Quote

andtheHomeoftheSIOUX!! Posted December 9, 2013 Posted December 9, 2013 Maybe Pflu has been the "hire" from the get go and he didn't wait to put in his application at the last minute just to throw us all off? Quote
sioux24/7 Posted December 9, 2013 Posted December 9, 2013 And many of you thought Pflu would bring baggage if hired... No kidding! Mankato doesn't even list him as a HC when you look at there past coaches. Quote

Popular Post jdub27 Posted December 9, 2013 Popular Post Posted December 9, 2013 And many of you thought Pflu would bring baggage if hired... Are you talking about the charges against him that were dismissed because it was ridiculous to begin with? That the judge said should have never been filed? Not saying he's a top candidate, but significantly better than a lot that have applied. 6 Quote
Oxbow6 Posted December 9, 2013 Posted December 9, 2013 Are you talking about the charges against him that were dropped? That was such a joke. Same could be said of those ragging on Pflu. Just saying... Who cares about being better than some. He isn't the best candidate as of right now. Quote

Popular Post UND92,96 Posted December 9, 2013 Popular Post Posted December 9, 2013 And many of you thought Pflu would bring baggage if hired... Not that I think he's the best person for the UND head coaching job, but I feel like it was a travesty what happened to him. He deserves to get back into coaching. I would have no problem if whomever the new coach is hires him as an assistant. 6 Quote
jdub27 Posted December 9, 2013 Posted December 9, 2013 Tom Miller reports Jeff Mills, former DC at New Mexico has applied as well. Resume below. UNDvince97-01 Posted December 9, 2013 Posted December 9, 2013 I would have no problem if whomever the new coach is hires him as an assistant. This, this, this. I would love to have Pflugrad as an OC regardless of who the head coach is. Quote

Old Fella Posted December 9, 2013 Posted December 9, 2013 Jeff SixPack of the Forum has a list of 10 possibilities for Bizons new couch. Phlu's name does not appear/ Not to worry the Bizons will hire him. Quote
UND92,96 Posted December 9, 2013 Posted December 9, 2013 I've obviously not been a big Pflu proponent, but I'd take a chance on him over Mills. I don't mind an assistant coach who lost his job because of a total housecleaning, but not one who was apparently forced out of his most recent job due to being in charge of a bad defense. I'm hoping there are other viable candidates who apply last minute. Quote
Shawn-O Posted December 9, 2013 Posted December 9, 2013 My mind is starting to wander into the land of "going to be let down if it's anyone but Pflugrad". Must...not...go...there. A lot can, and may, happen in the next 48-72 hours. 1 Quote
UNDBIZ Posted December 9, 2013 Posted December 9, 2013 Both Pflu and Hoffner got bad deals at their former universities. I feel really bad for Hoffner, as being called a child sex offender is a tough rap to leave behind, even though the charges were absolutely ridiculous. I would fully support the hiring of Hoffner as an assistant/coordinator. 3 Quote
sioux24/7 Posted December 9, 2013 Posted December 9, 2013 So is anyone else nervous about the list of candidates? I realize from the get go that everyone said the best candidates would more than likely apply on 12/10 but we only have one applicant that interests me, Pflugrad. Quote
The Sicatoka Posted December 9, 2013 Posted December 9, 2013 Saga Tuitele, the OC of Cal Poly, has applied. No-huddle triple-option here we come. Quote
