jodcon Posted February 10, 2013 Posted February 10, 2013 There looks to be another heavier band of snow coming on a line from Sisseton to Detroit Lakes, it's only going to get worse after dark so anybody still on the road find a place to stay NOW for the sake of your family and friends. Trust me, work will be there Tuesday. Quote
wsdSIOUXfalls Posted February 10, 2013 Posted February 10, 2013 I can confirm there is beer still available in Watertown, just got back from getting some provisions. Snow is getting heavier. turning into blizzard conditions here in Sioux Falls now, too. Quote
Vegas_Sioux Posted February 11, 2013 Posted February 11, 2013 94 and 75 just closed and for those of you heading out on the beer rescue missions it's ok to leave the natty ice behind. Quote
sprig Posted February 11, 2013 Posted February 11, 2013 I29 closed all the way to Grand Forks (from SD border). Heavy snow falling from Fargo to Grand Forks. Lots of Gulf moisture being pulled up and wrapping around. Quote

The Sicatoka Posted February 11, 2013 Posted February 11, 2013 Where are they going to practice in Sisseton? Hotel parking lot ... it can't be any worse than the ice in Omaha. Quote
The Sicatoka Posted February 11, 2013 Posted February 11, 2013 Stuck in Watertown. ... when the day goes down on Watertown ... Quote

Vegas_Sioux Posted February 11, 2013 Posted February 11, 2013 Hotel parking lot ... it can't be any worse than the ice in Omaha. Good thing it's just the players scrimmage. Nothing like a little boot hockey in the hotel parking lot Quote
The Sicatoka Posted February 11, 2013 Posted February 11, 2013 Tater should start doing his Travel Log "Captain Kirk" style ... "Travel date Thirteen ... Two ... Ten ... the team... is trapped ... by an engulfing storm ... at this strange, alien, place, called ... Sisseton. Supplies. Short. Search party sent out to survey the area. Survival. Unsure." </William Shatner voice> Quote

GPL Mole Posted February 11, 2013 Posted February 11, 2013 hopefully everyone is safe. I was forced into some travel and I would not recommend. Be safe everyone. No rush when traveling in rough conditions. Quote

SiouxFanWI Posted February 11, 2013 Posted February 11, 2013 My route home to northern Wisconsin lead me down the clear skies of I80, then the crummy freezing rains of I35. Decided to call it a night and stopped at my sister's house in the twin cities. Hopefully will be able to make it home tomorrow, though it sounds like we'll be getting more snow all day. Hopefully everyone makes it home safely! Quote
sprig Posted February 11, 2013 Posted February 11, 2013 Snow finally out of both states but the webcams in SD show really piled up snow on 29; would guess it will be afternoon before these get cleaned and opened again. Quote
dmksioux Posted February 11, 2013 Posted February 11, 2013 Is anyone hearing any guesstimates about when I29 is going to reopen. I spent the night in Sioux Falls. Roads are decent here, although I've been told they get pretty bad not too far north. Quote
Siouxman Posted February 11, 2013 Posted February 11, 2013 I-90 west from Sioux Falls is now open. As of 9:27 the SDDOT has REMOVED the following statement from the road report "winter maintenance has been suspended" for I-29 north. So it appears that snow plows are now out trying to open things up. Unfortunately, the winds appear to still be high in NE South Dakota as visibility is still reported at 1/8 mile or less at times. Even when roads open, travel will be slow as it appears the roads are covered in ice. Quote
Goon Posted February 11, 2013 Posted February 11, 2013 I29 From Fargo to Grand Forks is now open, per the wire. Also, I-94 from Fargo to Jamestown is now open. Fargo to the SD border remains closed. Quote
