Uncle_Rico Posted October 20, 2012 Posted October 20, 2012 UND won 40-34. Hardin with 333 yards (und record) and 3 tds And Big Sky record Quote
Oxbow6 Posted October 20, 2012 Posted October 20, 2012 Griz D is pathetic. Ours is just flat out bad. At game...fun too watch. Hardin's dad right behind me. Cool guy. 1k+ Griz fans I would guess. Pretty cool to see Hardin's dad on last TD. Proud dad. Quote
WILDCAT Posted October 20, 2012 Posted October 20, 2012 Very entertaining win, watched it on ROOT while watching Weber on BSTV, congrats on the win Quote
gfhockey Posted October 20, 2012 Posted October 20, 2012 Has any other qb in such a short time have made more of a mark then hanson has??? Quote
Sioux95 Posted October 20, 2012 Posted October 20, 2012 Awesome game. The D finally rose to the occasion today and played well toward the end of the game, or so it seemed from what I heard on the radio. I have to wonder why we don't throw over the middle more; seems like that has been Hanson's forte in every game he has played, and with receivers we have and the run game we don't have, why not do something to force the linebackers in the middle to think pass first? Quote
iceberg Posted October 20, 2012 Posted October 20, 2012 I can get it with a $13 sports pack per month, but I need to change my whole DTV package in order to get the game today. Plus no coverage on American One Big sky network on line. What a bunch of $%^&*(). Guess I will listen to it, but this is really crap Mr. Hajdu!!!!! I know its after the game but you DO NOT need the sports pack to see the "BIg Sky game of the week" You just need HD access I am in Minneapolis (5 miles or so from Mistake Lake Casino) and watched it on 239-1. Every Root game of the week has been here and next weeks game is already in the schedule What package do you have with Directv? INfo on the Audience Network http://www.directv.com/premiums/audience?footernavtype=-1&lpos=header scroll down to the bottom where the schedule is and if you go backwards on the schedule you'll see Montana vs North Dakota under 239 DTV HD Quote
iceberg Posted October 20, 2012 Posted October 20, 2012 You do realize, don't you, that this game is being broadcast exclusively by Root, which has a contract with the Big Sky Conference? I assume you do, so what exactly would you propose UND should have done to get this game into your living room? Take your rudeness elsewhere. He didnt need to propose anything....If he has Directv its on what they call the Audience Network 239-1 Its for just the Root games Quote
iceberg Posted October 21, 2012 Posted October 21, 2012 Sorry, but last year with the package for DTV I had I could watch virtually every game. Now I have to change my DTV package and add a sports package for another $13 a month to watch what, one FB game? Sorry, but the contract with the BSC has left those of us in the MSP and Western Wisconsin unable to watch UND FB this year. sorry but you're wrong.....please see my previous post Quote
sioux24/7 Posted October 21, 2012 Posted October 21, 2012 Great win by the team but I cannot wait until that new punter comes in next year. Quote
Vegas_Sioux Posted October 21, 2012 Posted October 21, 2012 Good quality win. But really 44 yards rushing? Quote
Ole in MSP Posted October 21, 2012 Posted October 21, 2012 It's just because it's the Griz playing. Root Sports always shows them and they aren't available on the AmericaOne Big Sky TV site. The America One is a streaming site only right? It works, not today, but it works. It is not the same as a Directv Fox College Sports experience which we had all last year. The Midco contract needs to get updated to include Fox Sports somewhere in the region. Realize the market UND is not now telecasting into for FB, all of southern Mn, Wisc etc. This is still a recruiting area with huge numbers of Alumni who do not want to sit in a bar all day Saturday to watch. Quote
J.B. Posted October 21, 2012 Posted October 21, 2012 Hell Yeah!!!!!!! I apologize in advance. I know there are some sensitive fans on the site. I hope i did not offend you in any way. I just got excited. I beg for your forgiveness. Quote
Ole in MSP Posted October 21, 2012 Posted October 21, 2012 He didnt need to propose anything....If he has Directv its on what they call the Audience Network 239-1 Its for just the Root games Sorry, I tried that earlier thinking I was home free to watch it there. It did not come in on that channel until I changed the contract package I had for the last many years and had to add the sports package for another $13 a month. In addition, the game today is the only UND game on this year so it is expensive for one game. Can't Midco work out something with Root and with Fox to get these games on in the upper midwest region where there are so many alums? Quote
Petey19 Posted October 21, 2012 Posted October 21, 2012 That was an awesome game. I know we had a little let down in the 3rd quarter and our offense kind of struggled in the 2nd half, but they both showed up in crunch time. Our defense was very adequate in the 4th quarter. Those last 5 minutes of the game were the most nervous/excited I have been about UND football since the transition. Even though we are out of the playoff race, we knocked Montana out of it too, officially, and man is it great to be in a conference. Quote

jdub27 Posted October 21, 2012 Posted October 21, 2012 Was quite a game. Montana was not going to let UND run the ball and UND obliged by going over the middle all day. Would have been better if UND didn't drop a handful of easy catches. Defense had its moments, but made a couple stops at the end when it was necessary. Would have liked to see how this team would have done if Hanson did get hurt the first game and the defense would be even average. Quote
UND92,96 Posted October 21, 2012 Posted October 21, 2012 A fun, but incredibly frustrating at times, game to watch today. If I were Mussman, I think I'd tell Breitbach that he's not allowed to call a run between the tackles on third or fourth and short the rest of the season. It just doesn't work this year. 4 Quote
siouxfaninseattle Posted October 21, 2012 Posted October 21, 2012 I was surfing to see what games were on and found this one! Both the offense and defense stepped it up when they had to. Very exciting finish! Quote
Ole in MSP Posted October 21, 2012 Posted October 21, 2012 The conference contracted Root to broadcast the game, and Root has exclusivity on those rights. We made every effort to pick up the game for Fox College Sports, but to no avail. When you are a part of strong conferences, you are at the mercy of the conference rights holder. This, unfortunately, is not uncommon in Division I athletics. For example, FSN loses a handful of Gopher hockey games each year because of the Big Ten Network contract. If the Big Ten Network has the rights to a particular game, they have exclusivity and are under no obligation to allow other networks to pick up that broadcast. All of this is understandable, but when the Directv guide says the game is on channel 239-1 and channels 687 and 683 you expect it to be there, without having to spend the first half of the game trying to figure out how you are going to get them. Ultimately as I said in another post, I had to change my Directv package and add sports package at higher cost to get the same thing for one game that I had the last several years. Very frustrating. Anyway, enjoyed that ending, wish I could have seen the first half. Quote
UND92,96 Posted October 21, 2012 Posted October 21, 2012 Kind of an unsung hero today was Blair Townsend. I believe he had more receiving yardage today than in the rest of his career combined. 1 Quote

I had a package that had like 205 channels that is no longer marketed and today switched to get this game on 687 to a similar package with 203 channels. But, Directv also said I needed to get the sports package, maybe not for 239-1, but for 687 and 683. It was too late to check if I could get 239-1 without the sports package as I wanted to get the game on. Again, these gyrations are a pain compared to how good we had it. I guess the Alums outside of ND will not see a lot more UND football unless Midco and Fox get their act together for next season. Hard to believe with all the alums in Minnesota and Wi there is not more effort to get this done. Once the fans are gone, it is tough to get them back as witnessed by the empty seats again today. Hard to believe with all the alums in Minnesota and Wi there is not more effort to get this done. Once the fans are gone, it is tough to get them back as witnessed by the empty seats again today. Midco did not broadcast this game at all because it was on Root. Root does not want to give its games to cable companies, or sell them a single game, they are trying to get their product on systems on a full time basis. There is no way that anyone was going to be able to carry this game unless they agreed to add Root as a regular channel. Root has an agreement to carry one exclusive game each week, this week it was UND-Montana. As far as the rest of the games, Midco offered Fox College Sports the same deal on UND games as they had in the past. Fox College Sports decided that they only wanted to show UND hockey games this year, they didn't want the football games or any other UND games. Blame Midco all you want, but that decision is actually on FCS. If you don't like the decision, tell Fox College Sports. Midco offered to give the games to FCS at no cost, FCS never paid for any of those games, and FCS wouldn't even take the free feeds. What do you want UND and Midco to do, pay FCS to show the games? darell1976 Posted October 21, 2012 Posted October 21, 2012 Just got back to Fargo, my voice hurts like hell. As for the game itself Montana should have won it. UND played horrible in the third quarter and Montana's recievers dropped passes one of them would've been a TD. Our defense continues to suck. If UM would have stopped Hanson we would've been destroyed. As for the fans, I was sitting next to a couple Grizzlies fan and in front of us were Montana fans from Sidney. They were the nicest people. 100% class act all the way. They cheered, they brought the cowbell, it was nice to have a conversation with them the whole game. They drank a lot of beer to keep the Grand Forks economy going. They said we had a nice building and the game was great that it came down to the end. A guy said if they would have had their star RB he would have made some big plays up the middle (I believe it!). Great people, and they said its too bad us two teams couldn't play every year. I told him UND's "rival games" were Montana State and Northern Colorado, but UM will be in Grand Forks the next two years (2013 is a non-conference game to make up the end of the home and home from 2010) and then conference play resumes in 2014. Great game, I really thought OT was coming. I could have killed Mussman when UND had 3 time outs and 1:30 left in the first half and he pissed it away by running the clock out. I told my dad 14 points against our defense is not a safe lead. Hanson and Hardin...UND's version of Montana to Rice, awesome connection. 660 yards for Hanson and 330 for Hardin...holy crap!!! If only our defense was strong. Oh for you NDSU fans...there was a guy among the Montana fans about 5 or 6 sections over wearing a Bison shirt...guess who he was cheering for. I hope our offense shows up against MSU, just leave the crappy defense at home. Quote
