UNDBIZ Posted March 16, 2012 Posted March 16, 2012 From my vantage point, it looked like two Gopher fans pulled the jersey off the Sioux fan from behind. Then they wrap him up and when he gets free, he pops one of the Goofy fans. I didn't see him drop but he may have. What I DID see was a few minutes later security escorted the two Gopher fans out, while the Sioux fan remained to watch the rest of the game. Here's the GPL (maroon and yellow glasses) version of events... I was there. This is what happened from what I saw, there were like 10 gopher fans sitting 5 in one row and 5 in the row below it. They were there for the afternoon game too. Fairly harmless adults, usually cheering against DU & UND. Then for the UND game there were these UND fans sitting in front of them. They would stand up, face the Gopher fans, and try to start UND cheers by screaming and waving their arms in their faces. It was only a matter of time.... The UND fan got his jersey ripped off and they just went at it for a couple minutes. There could have been more to the story but this is what I saw. EDIT: Oh, and the Gopher fans and the UND fans got kicked out. Crowd cheered for the Gopher guy getting kicked out. Quote
The Sicatoka Posted March 16, 2012 Posted March 16, 2012 What color jerseys do we wear tonight? Im thinking green? I've covered this already: Thu: better seed, white jersey Fri: all business, business suits, black jerseys Sat: St. Patrick's Day, green jersey Quote
bcblues Posted March 16, 2012 Posted March 16, 2012 I'll be in my black. After all, it is a formal occasion! Quote

SiouxScore Posted March 16, 2012 Posted March 16, 2012 Hope we come out with a lot of energy and get a good early start. It wil be key to jump on the early and take an early lead. I'm with the poster who said it wouldn't be the worst thing to not have to play 3 games in 3 days, but then again I NEVER want to lose to the gophers. I really hope we play physical but smart right from the drop of the puck, looking forward to see someone light up Rau. Quote
shortbusguy Posted March 16, 2012 Posted March 16, 2012 Here's the GPL (maroon and yellow glasses) version of events... Or there's this one that got posted: "The fight happened six rows below us, Sioux fan stood up to start a cheer, Gopher fan told him to sit down, jawing results, Gopher fan throws first punch that connected and pulled the Sioux fan's jersey over his head, but the Sioux fan followed with three punches one that connected to the nose of the Gopher fan drawing blood. Both were big guys that had been drinking and neither were innocent victims." Clearly the Gopher fan was the instigator but I think booze was probably the problem. Quote
bcblues Posted March 16, 2012 Posted March 16, 2012 I agree that an early goal would be helpful. It would help shut up the pesky Gopher fans if nothing else. Quote
sagard Posted March 16, 2012 Posted March 16, 2012 Sat: St. Patrick's Day, green jersey No third place game this year, so you'd better wear 'em tonight! Should be a fun tilt. Quote
andtheHomeoftheSIOUX!! Posted March 16, 2012 Posted March 16, 2012 No third place game this year, so you'd better wear 'em tonight! Should be a fun tilt. Do you think your boys will wear yellows or something goofy like that? Quote

bigskyvikes Posted March 16, 2012 Posted March 16, 2012 Glad to see someone finally figured out what I'd said. The problem is that if the Sioux do lose, the real fans will still be there on Saturday night with the colors on beaming with pride! Not everybody will leave if the Sioux will lose! So I'm saving my green jersey for Saturday night wether we win or lose! GO SIOUX! Quote
sioux24/7 Posted March 16, 2012 Posted March 16, 2012 I thought the fight was over a puck that went into the crowd. I could be wrong though Quote
Washburn Sioux Posted March 16, 2012 Posted March 16, 2012 I agree that I really didn't want to have the Sioux play three games this week-end, that is the bad part of the Final Five, only one more Final Five to go. I also would not like the Sioux losing to a team that has Chicken-Yellow colored hair. Hope the Sioux kick the chicken poop out of those yellow hair clowns. May the reffing be correct and fair.....oh wait WCHA refs, cancel that. Quote

We were right across isle in 116. UND guy was huge. Why the Gopher fans decided to take verbal shot at this guy to start with is beyond me. UND guy landed a solid shot then asked the Gopher tool to go outside and finish it. Like all Gophers, he cowered. Quote

farce poobah Posted March 16, 2012 Posted March 16, 2012 I'm hoping for an epic game that fits the epic characteristics of this rivalry. Toe to toe, no ground given. I'm also hoping for a massive Sioux fan turnout. Quote
