Mel Pearson, Jr. will be getting a great deal if consideration for WCHA Coach of the Year but I am guessing only if this team gets to the Final Five. Quick early starts will be the key in both games for the good guys in Green & White.

Sweeping this series is critical, the chances of getting out of Denver with more than a split are almost nil the way the refs usually hose us down there.

I think the Sioux will come out absolutely flying on Friday night. They need to set the tone with a physical first twenty minutes and go from there the entire weekend.

I'll predict:

UND 5 Tech 1

UND 3 Tech 2

I agree, I see one close one and one where UND opens it up a little. Either way, "points is points" and the Sioux need to pick up four. I will be there Saturday night, hopefully to see a stick salute!

I wish I could be up there for the game. My wife was going to get me tickets for my birthday, but no hotel rooms in GF available. What else is going on in town this weekend? I think the Sioux get 3 points this weekend. Tech has played some good hockey this year and the points are not automatic like they used to be in previous years. Go Sioux!

East Region Boys (and I believe Girls Hockey) is also taking place at Purpur Arena. March 2 and 3 will be an interesting weekend too. Not only does Minnesota State come to town for a twin bill in Men's Hockey, but the State Class B Boys BB Tournament is happening at the Alerus Center. Talk about a tough weekend to get a room.

My only concern is Tech has made a habit this year out of winning the games they shouldn't have (see win @ Mariucci and 3 pts in Duluth) while they have been losing as the favorites. This, coupled with the fact that UND is in the middle of a Duluth/Denver sandwich makes for a dangerous weekend. Hope the boys are primed.

I don't think there will be a problem with the boys being primed. As my memory recalls, the last time they saw Mel, he was on the winning bench at the X. Don't think for one minute that some of the leaders of this team are wanting to send Mel a message that hey you have a nice team, but not in our house. Like Corban said, they play hockey the right way. I am looking forward to some OLD TIME FIGHTING SIOUX HOCKEY!!

Two teams have swept Tech this season: BSU (late October) and UMD (early December). Just thought that was interesting.

It's time for our favorite team to sack up, to quote Kristo and get the win.

We have everything to lose this weekend. We have no excuses, if we are not pumped to play in our house and get these 2 wins we dig our own hole. "This is our time"...

Let's go get this boys!!! And cram the Ralph, we need these wins!!!

IMO, as is usually the case, penalties will be key. Stay disciplined and out of the penalty box and it should be a 4 point weekend. Last weekend this team showed they can play with ANYONE 5-on-5.
