This Kernan kid sounds like a great addition to the program.  I love the intangibles that his coach talks about.

Cameron Berg type?

Sounds like it, as the article mentioned that a good pile of his PP goals were one-timers from the circle.

Can only imagine how good it felt to pot the GWG later in the game.

Didn't look like a cheap shot or anything. Guy was lining him up, he lost an edge and took the worst of it. Glad he was ok and glad to see him keep scoring though.

Did you miss the part where the guy pushed his head to the ice while he’s laying there?

Sorry Kato. $hit rolls downhill.

Exactly, feel bad for them, but we have to reconstruct our roster. Actually glad they didn’t reach for a portal guy that would have basically added to depth of the team.  Probably need a high ender to slot in the top center, but it is nice to get guys that will fit the kind of guy we want.

Schlossman posted his article on Kernan around the same time the official announcement came out..so it appears he knew about this addition for a few hours or maybe a day beforehand.

Wondering if Zellers also being from Maple Grove played a part in Kernan coming to UND.

Zellers and Kernan are friends so it definitely didn’t hurt.

Somebody named Gavin coming to UND? Bucci thinks so.

I've never been a big Bucci fan, but if he is right, I'll appreciate him a bit more.

The thing with a guy like Mckenna is that even if you only have him for a year, he can help jump start a program, which is what UND needs. Jump start the existing talent. Jump start the incoming talent. Jump start the winning mentality. It doesn't all rely on him but having a high-end talent that can score and flash and generate excitement and buzz and HELP WIN is something we need right now.

My son is a huge UND hockey fan, and I forget that he isn't old enough to really know or understand the Hak years, and what it was like to expect to be in the tourney every year, and a letdown was not making the Frozen Four. Yes, I know he never won a championship, but every year you felt the team was capable. It would be nice to get back to being a perennial top team.

I liked Berry as a guy, but apart from winning that first championship ....

-Lost our streak hosting the playoffs in the first round ... then put us on the road multiple time.

-Had us drop out of the rankings altogether multiple times.

-Destroyed the business suit mentality

-Recruiting tailed off

-Multiple situations of guys having issues with each other off the ice.

-Etc.

...Those are all things that contribute to a programs overall culture, and the last 10 years were very different that the 10+ years prior. Hopefully Dane can get us back to being a top team and quick!

When they were talking about finding centers in his podcast, Schlossman mentioned the CHL for possibilities, but also mentioned Kernan decommitting from Mankato.

Does anyone here like Bucci?

Yes. He is a great spokesman for college hockey and is a genuinely good guy. He's not a good announcer, but neither was Barry Melrose. He's way more likeable than Barry Melrose.

Our reputation is not good in cawlegdge hockey right now

How so?
Because we picked up a commit from a kid that decommitted and had several offers from NCHC and B10 schools?

According to a direct quote in Brad's article, he had a good conversation with Mankato's staff. According to Kato fans online, his parents penned a letter to the coaches.

It was actually their assistant coach on a podcast. And msu media reported it
