My first try at this weeks brackets. This assumes current conference leaders win the automatic bid. The first two out are St. Lawrence and Colorado College.

note: * for host teams

UND is actually the 8th seed.

That's a lot of tough games.

UND vs. Notre Dame would be a very tough game.

Michigan and DU, imo, have just about the easiest track to the Frozen Four. DU has a slightly harder track. I don't see Vermont or Princeton giving Michigan too hard of a time.

It would be an awful lot of fun once again helping turn Miami into the SCSU of the CCHA.

Exactly.

I knew and said they would be in - weeks ago - and I stand by that even if they are lucky enough to get by St. Cloud in 3 games next weekend and then lose the following Thursday night. Obvious reasons of course.

But - hey - what fun is it to have a team host two tourneys and not be in either one of them.

Hum, I would love to see UND take it to Miami so we could serve RedHack some crow.

Looking ahead using the "build you own PWR" at Slak.net.

If the favorites (higher seed not higher rpi/pwr) win the conf tourny games ...

1. We end up 7.

If we want to move up we need Yale to lose along the way. We win that comp now but will lose it once they play 2 more Tuc - that will happen in the ECAC semis/finals.

Even if we beat Denver in the F5 they still have a slightly better RPI. It probably would go down if AA takes a game in Den this weekend. If not and Den only loses to us they get 3 in the PWR. To flip VT in the end we need them to lose a game this weekend before they would play and lose to BU in the HE semis (there is no 3rd place game in HE).

2. The play in game is huge for the Gophs - if they lose it to CC, the Tigers pass them for 14 in the PWR (barring unforseen upsets in other conf playoffs that could effect PWR), even if CC loses the next 2 to us and Wisco/Den.

3. But that doesn't mean the Gophers are out because, lo and behold, if the favorites win, the Falcons of AF would be 13 in the PWR. Without any other upsets the Gophers would be last in.

The RPI is so close for many of the comps that even one loss for a team if the first round playoffs could have a big impact on the rankings.

I made UND get swept by Tech, placing them at 13th in the pairwise.

The Gophers won the F5, making them 12th.

  :(

Wow, so if the Gophers win out and take the F5...possibly the best they could do is take 12th?

They better not falter (and hope that no one behind them wins out or wins their tourney), otherwise they'll be on the outside looking in.

Go Sioux! I want to take over the Mariucci regional with a sea of green.

No, I'm not totally sure of that. The only scenarios I changed was the Gopher games, none of the other ones. We could still beat St. Cloud, lose the play in game, and be in the tournament.

Considering its in the Cities and the NCAA sucks they will find a way to get you guys in if need to be. Nothing against the Gophers one bit

FYI - if we would have beaten the Badgers Sat we would be 4th in the PWR

As dissappointing as that is, we have got to be happy with with all the games the Sioux have won the past 3 months. We also won the MacNaughton Cup, which means another beautiful banner in the Ralph.

With all due respect to fans everywhere, if you're going to brag about a trophy, please spell its name correctly: MacNaughton.

It's nice to see that the internet is updated rather quickly these days...

Thanks MafiaMan...I blame the daylight savings thing on my brain fart.

Agreed. And happy to have a solid place in the tourney. If you are the better team, you're the better team. So what if you're a 4th seed or 8th? Better to lose to a 10th seed than a Holy Cross.

Sure, it's nice to have last line change, but if you're good enough to win, then get in and win.

Hmnnnn...maybe daylight savings time is responsible for the PRI somehow having Minnesota in the NCAA tournament field of 16 despite a 7-9-2 record since January 1st with wins against Michigan Tech, Alaska-Anchorage, Brown, and Northeastern? UMD and a St Cloud sweep are quality wins, I'll spot you that, but still...

Just out of curiosity, I checked to see where our RPI would be if Harvard would have swept Brown instead of being swept. We would be at .5415 in RPI, and .0001 ahead of UNH, thus flipping that comparison. We would then be tied for 5th, but sitting in 7th.

Just goes to show how much every game affects the RPI/PWR.

seeing that we are correcting things this morning our RPI would have been .5515, not .5415.

You have no idea what you're talking about if you're putting Northeastern in that same group. They are 5th in the Pairwise, get your facts straight before you post that garbage. Much much bigger win than both UMD and SCSU, especially since we beat Northeastern without Schroeder, Hoeffel, and Fairchild.

I have said it before and I will say it again. Get your West Regional tickets now.

Sioux and Gophers are on another post season collision course. Sioux as a #2 seed,

Gophers as a #4. Unless, of course, Minnesota has their season ended by Saint Cloud,

which could very very well happen. If and once that happens, Sioux are a lock

in The John.

Of course, I suppose that the Sioux run will put them as a #1 seed. A Gopher #4 seed

might send us elsewhere. Hope that that does not happen. Frankly, I would love to see

the Sioux end the Gophers season on March 28.

Just where does that come into pairwise, speaking of no mind.
