Did not imagine Blake on the hottest line in the playoffs. Good for him.

His swag/drip/etc. likely resonates with some blue chips. Hope to someday read about a kid from the suburbs we normally wrote off as shoo in for the Gophers saying how their favorite player is Blake and that influenced their decision to pick UND.

Cole Smith with an apple on the goal that kept Vegas in the game. Getting one before the 1st ended was massive.

And just think with the new NCAA rule with age and 5 years, players like Cole Smith may not exist in the future. Just think how different his life could have been if he didn't get the chance to enter college at 20 or 21 and develop over 4 years!

He might have selected another sport entirely for college. 

I do expect some aristocrat, like Larry Robbins or *gasp* Murry Gunty, who is a college hockey dad to sue the NCAA to force an exception for hockey. Another lawsuit angle is something involving the Post Grad year that kids do at NEPSAC and similar schools, which have plenty of aristocratic parents as well.

i've always wondered why hockey "growth" is so much different than other sports....

ship your 15 or 16 year old off to cedar rapids or brandon mb to live in some random person basement and play hockey

why isn't like other sports....you play 4 years of high school hockey (live at home with your family!!) and then go play 4 years of college hockey?

Sucks that you retiring gets leaked before you can come out and say you are retiring. I'd like to see him take another year as his final year, play for the Wild for a year they need a center(s)

Blake with an all time bad penalty. Cannot give refs anything to call with a late lead (just like Cooley vs Quinny in 23).
