He wasn’t even the best player on his team his whole time in Chicago. When I think of the HoF, I think of players like Gretzky, Messier, Hull, Sakic, Roy, Etc. I would understand if he isn’t in the Hall of Fame. He won multiple Stanley Cups, multiple Olympic Gold Medals, one of the youngest captains ever, need I go on? If that overrated stiff Eric Lindros can get in, Toews should be able to get in. Just my 2 cents. 1 3 Quote

With nearly 300 players in the HOF, he might not be a lock but he has a good chance. 2 3 Quote

It is a pretty exclusive club but getting elected to the hall of fame is done by a committee and no one knows how those will go. So, unless you are a player like Gretzky or Messier, nothing is guaranteed. Quote
brianvf Posted June 10 Posted June 10 Nice article from Schloss on Oshie: https://www.grandforksherald.com/sports/und-hockey/schlossman-t-j-oshie-never-looked-too-far-ahead Quote When Oshie was at UND, he was fully invested in bringing an NCAA national championship to Grand Forks. As a sophomore, Oshie led UND to the NCAA Frozen Four. He had a hat trick and a four-point game against Michigan in the NCAA regional. The Frozen Four that year in St. Louis, where he played in front of upper management of the St. Louis Blues, who held his NHL-playing rights. Trailing Boston College late in the third, Oshie forced a turnover behind the net and scored shorthanded to tie it with less than five minutes to go. UND eventually lost the game, but the Blues had seen enough. They were convinced Oshie was ready for the NHL. The loss bothered Oshie, though. He told the Blues, 'not yet.' He wasn't ready to leave UND. He wanted another shot at an NCAA national championship. The Blues tried again later that offseason to lure Oshie. He stood firm. He came back along with classmates Taylor Chorney and Ryan Duncan to make another run. 1 2 Quote

108498 Posted 20 hours ago Posted 20 hours ago What past UND players are in the NHL? It doesn't feel like UND has had a lot of great players the past 10 years. Quote

108498 Posted 20 hours ago Posted 20 hours ago I stand corrected. I didn't think I would recognize alot of the names. Chey and Scheel are still playing. That is cool! 2 Quote

The one that hurt me was seeing Weatherby playing in Czechia. His late departure after all the raving we heard about his camp performance, combined with “what could’ve been” if he’d stayed, wouldn’t sting nearly as much if he’d at least locked down an NHL position. But Czechia? 2 Quote
