  1. Better the Alerus Center does better for the city - the Ralph is doing fine on their own with their selected events. I see the Al has put out a pre-emptive "Here's what you need to know before the Alan Jackson Concert" with suggestions and plans how to attend a huge concert in GF with options and new ideas to hopefully AVOID all the constant bitching and whining - plan ahead? What an idea! Take heart Alerus Concertgoers - the solution is at hand! PS - It's still going to take half an hour to more than an hour to get out of the parking lot - DEAL WITH IT! Hide a couple beers in a cooler in the car and take your time leaving. There's no rush. You know BY NOW it's going to take some time so factor that in. The best concert experience is all about planning:-) Enjoy the show!
  2. Two separate locations - the one by the Frat was a basement store - ONLY convenience store on campus at the time. The one on Stanford was a block off Gateway behind the building that used to be a laundromat and carwash and across from the old Frenchys. The building is still there but its some weird office or something now.
  3. A block off Gateway - behind the building that used to be a carwash and laundry and is now a Somali restaurant. Across from where Frenchy's used to be.
  4. I've been saying this all along. I hate to tell you this but the HOME of the FIGHTING SIOUX University/Aerospace division also....ssshhhh....actually TRAINS Chinese students to FLY and has for 35 years. Chinese students that could learn to fly then pilot privately made CIRRUS/CHINA-owned aircraft to fly over FuFeng to pick up some milled corn products infused with DRONES from the UND E-Sports Program (also affiliated with China by proxy) and sprinkle corn flake flavored spy-e-ness over all of our country? Shouldn't UND be the target for TRAINING the commies? Those bastards!
  5. so....what generation are you from Mr. Magic? and how did YOU prevent this country from running into the ground? I got a participation ribbon from an elementary school playday in 1978 and wiped my ass with it. I also watched a recent ASSHOLE president we had whine and lie about being cheated out on election 2 years ago he's still CRYING about now. !@#$ HIM! He couldn't prove !@#$ and still can't. He's just a little orange-tufted pussy who hopefully the DOJ is tracking. VERY SAD!
  6. Came into the VD on Stanford where I worked graveyards after 1am - liked pizza rolls, Geno's !@#!$ frozen pizza and dry humor. I could make him laugh but it was like a corpse coughing. You could tell he wasn't long for this world (early '90's) PS - Pat Sweeney also frequented the Stanford VD - bought a lot of Eskimo Pies to my recollection. Nice guy but also odd like Karl.
  7. I have the original recipes for the fishbowls! I sold the !@#$ out of them on a cd on Ebay 10 years ago - for you I will make a deal* *Seriously - went to the Ho Auction and they had a box that included a lot of sheets of paper - they WERE the original fishbowl recipes! I got it for like $5 and made hundreds if not nearly thousands of dollars from them plus a lot of old Ho items. I won't even go into what I got for buying hundreds of the old pewter French Onion Soup bowls. They were amazing! AND i still have 1 of original "Al's Pasta Parlor" violin case arrow signs in my bar. The old HO fucking RULED man!
  8. It's called sarcasm. Social Security has been on a death spiral LONG BEFORE these little self-important self-centered aholes came on the scene and only thought about themselves. The boomers payed their own way all along - they just want what's due to them. If you take out a student loan to pay for college - that's on you! I worked a full time job and an part time job (60+ hours a week) and finished with a degree and no loans. Wasn't fun but I was young and did it because I worked my ass off - I'm proud of that. I don't give 2-shits about whiny millennials today...Rudy G would call them the "P" name but I won't because I hate Rudy.
  9. No but at least you would own SOMETHING instead of throwing your money away on rent for a "good time". We didn't buy a "DUMP" (fu) but it was an older house that we've invested in with a new 2 car garage, new windows, new roof, all kinds of things. It's about investment on every level but it will pay off for us in the end. There's a very small house on the next block to me - they're marketing it as a "Tiny House" - lol! They did a total remod inside and out. It has a 2 car garage that might actually be BIGGER than the house and they're asking $150,000! No takers yet but lots of lookers...but again at least you'd own something instead of nothing. Best of luck to the kids who want to live for today with all the amenities but no investment. THANK GOD Social Security will be around to take care of them in their.....nevermind
  10. The lifestyle for NOW - go ahead and throw away rent for 30 years and end up with nothing to show for it. They can't afford a home they THINK they deserve right out of the chute that's probably way beyond their means right now but if they could get into a smaller starter home and work their way up they'd actually own something worth something at the end of the road. The real problem is a lack of small starter homes for new home buyers combined with the fact a small older place is "unacceptable" for today's renters because they think they deserve more immediate satisfaction (and less maintenance work) out of renting. We bought our house in North GF right after the flood - small and not perfect by any means but it was what we could afford at the time. Bought in - maintained and improved it and now we could easily sell it for way more than twice what we payed for it. The bank made out great on the mortgage they sold us but at least we'll have an asett we can sell to get most of that money back. Renters just keep throwing money into the wind with nothing to show for it.
  11. GF/EGF do like their COMMITTEES! sigh
  12. The idea of a new business/industry is to DRAW people to town - not draw/drain the local labor pool. This will - because they can't fill all these jobs locally - much like when Marvin Windows and Amazon come to town - the salaries and prospects are the draw. It's called economic development.
  13. Don't you guys still have that giant FILTHY gross embarrassing MOUNTAIN OF SNOW FROM LAST WINTER (aka Mt. FARGO) melting on the edge of town somewhere? THERE'S an attraction for you Magical Metro!
  14. That's a shame...I would have thought the METRO would have an AirSHO - oh welll
  15. WHHHAATTT?? They could fly over the Red Pepper and magically absorb by some "ancient chinese secret" the White Sauce recipe or GOD FORBID the recipe for the "Schneider"??? Where will this insanity end??? I blame Bo or possibly Mr. Lee!
  16. So THAT'S why they blacktopped the pot-hole filled ringroad around the mall that was amazingly dangerous. THANKS! I guess - still no protection for actually going IN the mall and finding a pothole strewn wasteland of so few and so crappy stores still treading water to survive in that wasteland. As trumpy would say....sad!
  17. The a-holes that own Columbia Mall are an out of state corporation that owns a ton of mall properties and uses Columbia Mall in little old GF as a money losing tax write-off AKA they don't give a sh*t about us. They're still "making $$$" on their books although the mall itself is a pathetic shell of it's former self. The reason West Acres can lose stores - react and get something in new to keep their mall alive is because WA is locally owned. That's the difference! Until Columbia Mall can be bought out from these non-caring out of state jerks, it will continue to be a disaster rolling downhill and an embarrassment to our community.
  18. I don't care if they're a church - if they're doing ANYTHING with that sh&t mall I applaude them.
  19. Quite a disparity between the Midco and Forum "quality" scores in UND's estimation - I guess Forum is the BEK of local college broadcasters for whatever school is so unfortunate to be their "main product" - it does show
  20. UND asked for the MOON! Wanted Midco to do all the work they do plus more games AND replace their marketing staff - WWAYYY too much! Nice try - come back to earth Chaves. WDAY is just messing with you - they can't deliver.
  21. Don't most of you "speculators" (aka NDSU fans) have a pathetic "NFL never-was QB's modern version of a Jehovah Witness knocking at your doors with pamphlets charity softball tournament" BROADCAST coming up on KVLY? That should be very compelling MUST WATCH TV for you! So go away. UND will take care of their own TV rights in their own time. The delay is from their end from what I hear. PS - By the way - sorry to see Beth Houle leave KVLY - she was quite the sports journalist Now they have a used car salesman in a red suit - Dan Hammer is turning over in his own future grave with a traditional circle of sticks all around him. SAD!
  22. Thanks Mother Nature for giving GF the big FU again! I get it we live in a state with changeable weather but SERIOUSLY - 55 mph gusts on a hot sweaty day that was like living in a blast furnace? In JUNE???? Yet we still got to have the privilege of the speedway races roaring insanity and destroying a nice northend evening Friday night with noise - great. Let the locusts just hatch and descend to end it all... it will be a mercy killing.
  23. Still WAY WAY more of a place for reporters with true journalist integrity than most places these days. Ever worked in the business or do you just bitch and complain about it as an outside observer? I did for a long time. It's a tough business. I learned (in college) to be fair and tell both sides of the story when possible. Sometimes one side or the other are ASSHOLES so they don't always get the benefit of the doubt. Again - it's a tough job and if you think you can do better - try it! Sean Hannity or Tucker Carlson are NOT journalists - they're assholes! Anyone who believes them probably contributed a LOT to DT's "Election Defense Fund" - LOL
  24. !@#!$ comment but great timing on the 50th Anniversary of the Watergate break-in! Where just a couple little "reporters" named Woodward and Bernstein responded to a "minor burglary" and eventually forced a POS liar president to resign in disgrace. They found legitimate sources and verified info with a lot of hard work. Tom needs to do the work of a journalist and dig around. It's not easy but it will get you to the truth...unfortunately the work ethic isn't there for a lot of todays newspaper and tv journalists.
