No it's going to be what GF doesn't need - another F*CKING bank! What's more attractive for a new bank than a former Denny's? IT IS for one Bank - love to see who it is. Maybe a dollar store will close so they can have a new branch - we'll see. BTW - The NorthSide Cafe is now open at the old Suite 49 location by the Ralph. Great food with a updated menu! Give them a shot - had lunch/breakfast there the other day - it was great! Try the stuffed hashbrowns - crazy good!

The steaks RULED - the salad and sides were OK - thing was you had to duck the leaks from the ceiling. If you looked up they actually had buckets hanging to catch the drips during the final days. The story is one day is all went too far one day and part of the ceiling collapsed on diners. The health department was called in and the rest is history. GLAD the HOE saved the sign too! Still wonder where the Highlander signed ended up? That was a keeper too.

Word is Elias Dean of Steers fame is turning the old Scottys Deli into an Asian/Fusion place - could be an interesting add to the GF food scene.

Oh boy that brings back a memory! Buck pitchers were a ritual but of course you were bombed drunk by 3pm in the afternoon. Had a carfull of my buddies in my 4 door Chevy Chevette coming back from EGF on the DeMers onramp downtown at about 50mph one Friday. Stepped on the brake when I saw a cop coming over the overpass and thought "!@#$! I'm screwed!" He pulled up behind me fast but didn't light me up after I slowed down. Turned left onto South Washington and headed for home. If would have pulled me over I would have blown WAY over the limit. Buck Pitchers of beer were good but remember the $5 pitchers of mixed drinks? We did rum and coke pitchers for hours and were SERIOUSLY stumbling drunk when we left the Spud. Stupidly drunk and thankfully we didn't hurt anyone including ourselves. Fun times though all things considered.

Our viewing will turn to watching 4 Winds go for the Class B Championship in ND. They've been to the championship the last several years but haven't won it - this might be the year! They have a BUZZSAW defense to go along with real athletes on offense. They square off against Kindred Saturday night on WDAY

Not to mention it will cost the Fufeng Company at least $750 million dollars to build their initial phase of the project -the total project is closer to 1 BILLION DOLLARS. They pay that - using local contractors and businesses before they even OPEN for business. That is a GIGANTIC economic impact GF needs! The city and state will help with infrastructure. My point is this investment is worth the payoff down the road BEFORE they hire employee #1. This is an economic development opportunity that comes around very VERY rarely. I live on the Northend and had a guy wearing a Strata jacket knock on my door asking me to sign the petition. I declined saying I supported the project. He was polite but I wondered what his company would think about him wearing a company jacket - a company that would profit BIGLY from this project most likely - to gain petition signatures against it? I wondered what his big boss at Strata would think about that but I didn't ask. Last but not least is if you have a problem that this is a "Chinese Communist Company trying to spy on the GFAFB" we already have a chinese owned company building airplanes/parts (Cirrus) in our industrial park and if you want to call your neighbors to check - throw away your chinese built cell phone you use (Apple and Android) for everything everyday. I would hate to think this comes down to just racism but I think for some it does. I'm not accusing anyone - you know in your heart why you are for or against this project.

They do that - it's 1 street with 2 exits - a known problem for 20 YEARS. PLAN AHEAD! Leave early and plan to be patient waiting to leave. It's not a surprise or really that hard. Speaking of good local pizza check out Pete's Za by Rydells. They do a Caribbean Jerk Pizza that is amazing and have lots of other unique pies. Don't miss the Korean BBQ Wings with Gojuchang Sauce. Might be one of the best wing flavors in town with sauce that's spicy and sweet and thick. Have lots of napkins on hand but it's totally worth it. They blow the geometric guys out of the water IMO

We did the SHORT friday...buck pitchers at 11am - The Spud also did $5 pitchers of mixed drinks so we'd switch to them by 1pm. Completely crushed by 3pm! GOODNIGHT GRACIE! I remember hitting the on-ramp to DeMers Avenue at about 60 mph in my freaking Chevy Chevette driving 4 buddies home in the '80's. Saw a cop step up right behind me and I hit the brakes. THANKFULLY he didn't light me up and we all made it home safe. Pretty sure I would have blown a .2+ on a breathalyzer and been in jail. Put me on the straight and narrow to this day;-) The Spud on fridays WAS the place to be back in the day! So drunk so early - you'd wander out in the middle of the afternoon and act like the sun was blinding you on purpose. Oh memories...

Hopefully Midco will announce a deal to air the UNO broadcast on Midco2 this weekend - would be a good moneymaker for them along with the SD SuperBowl!!! (the Summit tourney - lol)

Saw GIno and Tootsie at Harry's just a few months ago - both of them looked great. I didn't know her personally but would have stopped by their table to say Hi to Gino - they had another couple with them and I didn't want to interrupt. Condolences to GIno and the boys.

We're lucky Midco Sports has culled enough local talent to be on their staff (Jody from WDAZ, Brian Shawn from KVLY, Greg Enkers from FOX (behind the scenes/producer guy) Jody did a great job this weekend but David Brown also did his homework and did well having never called a DI Mens game before. He let Jake B run amok but did a good job in his PxP role. We all love Jake expressing his opinions so what's wrong with that? Alex is probably bound for bigger and better things - good for him - cool if a former UND announcer hits the "BigTIme" right?
