    2019 Season

Could see chaves not wanting to play the extra game to prevent injuries and stay healthy for........ playoffs.
  2. To anyone trying to predict the strength of the schedule next year, good luck. Weber may very well follow in SUU's footsteps. Just to refresh - this years pre season poll: 2018 Big Sky Football Coaches Poll School Total Points (First-place votes) Eastern Washington 134 (6) Weber State 124 (3) Northern Arizona 121 (3) Idaho 101 (1) Sacramento State 94 Southern Utah 91 Montana 82 Montana State 76 UC Davis 64 Cal Poly 40 Northern Colorado 30 Idaho State 29 Portland State 21
  3. Why is that? Despite having great talent at running back, our offense was still mediocre at best. We should have an older, bigger, and better OL next year, and we still have JJ. Wanzek will be back, as will Izzy and Cam. Our QB's will all have another year of experience. On D we basically only lose Tank and Cieslak, but Ott will be back opposite mason bennett. Nose is the only hole on the roster I'm really seeing. Every team has some seniors that they have to replace, but most of our talent will be back, and there are always young guys that step in and surprise.
  4. Could the decision on Knauf be partly due to roster turnover and recruits not coming in? Guys like Rain Slaiter not coming in have killed the OL depth.
  5. True, but Alex will phrase a question in a way that allows Chaves to say Bubba is staying, if he has made that decision. I'm guessing it's either something like that, or Chaves will say that he has a year end review with Bubba scheduled. Alex will broach the subject, imo.
  6. Will do, if nobody beats me to it. They record it today, but I don't think it is released until Tomorrow. It's a good weekly listen. https://www.stitcher.com/podcast/sit-down-and-cheer/the-bill-chaves-podcast
  7. PSU win would make UND look better. Not gonna happen though lol
  8. If anyone is bored tonight. Portland State plays EWU at 9:00. A Portland State win would be helpful.
  9. As of now, we are ranked higher in that poll than both Montana schools and many MVFC schools, including UNI. Southland might have 2 or 3 ranked in that poll though. We need the southland to only have one team in. The simple ratings system will probably be way more important. I wish the formula or rankings were public.
  10. Dont forget to factor in whether or not an extra flight could be needed. Say all else is equal, and Montana and Montana State have the highest bids, but North Dakota and South Dakota are relatively close, they could give UND or USD a home game instead of one of the Montana's, if the cost of a flight is more than the difference in bids. This example is hypothetical and doesnt factor in conference affiliation or any other circumstances. Also, listing multiple unrelated factors allows them to justify almost any decision they make.
  11. We want conference schools to get better, not worse. A rising tide lifts all boats, or something like that. We should wan't all of the schools in our conference to be winners, and the goal should be to compete with the MVC. Welcoming a school like Augie, because it limits SDSU and USD's potential is ass backwards. And it's not worth it to sell out for a few bucks from Denny, which we won't get in the first place.
  12. Saying ORU left, or even if they dont, take UMKC to be the travel partner with Omaha. Don't need Augie to water down recruiting.
  13. Cookus is still out I'm guessing? Edit: NVM
  14. The problem is that most people's expectations accounted for having a terrible OC, and Sam Houston actually being a good football team. Wasted potential is one of the saddest things in life, and watching UND struggle to scrape by the past few years has not been enjoyable. The more wins the better, but even if UND makes the playoffs this year, that doesn't mean people should be content. The utilization of Santiago is straight up depressing. Many of the issues that GeuxSioux refers to have been apparent, and voiced by many, since before we lost to New Richmond as a 9-2 seeded playoff team.
  15. Were you happy last year because they didn't lose all their games? 3-8 is better than what it could have been.
  16. I don't see how football alumni or other boosters would chip in money to pay for a new head coach at this point. UND football would be way better off with taking any money that would hypothetically be spent on paying a fired coach, and using it for a new coordinator, increasing assistant pay, and other team needs, like the recruiting budget. If Chaves fired Bubba, there isn't exactly a large group of experienced coaches that are chomping at the bit to come to UND. Getting a better coach than Bubba would be 50/50 odds, at best. Look at the Montana program now that they have fired their coach every 3 years for the past decade. They just rehired one of the guys they fired, and they have been nothing but mediocre. The same can't be said for Rudolph. Chuck the pigskin guy would probably be better.
  17. Someone posted this earlier on a different thread. Penn State's student section for hockey has a website, and is very organized. Something like this would be really cool, and helpful for both football and hockey, and maybe even volleyball/basketball. http://theroarzone.wixsite.com/theroarzone
  18. This. The ralph makes kids wait outside for hours before the game for lower bowl tickets, which means kids cant pregame. Even if they are 21. The change away from Lower/Upper bowl tickets was a bad one, imo.
  19. They better be sending some alternates along for free or something. Jones def has the right to say "I told you so" haha.
  20. I agree. Kentucky just looked so athletic that I wasn't even mad haha. I like this team.
  21. This. Studsrud was way worse his senior year after they made him stop running. And these are the same coaches that thought a current wide receiver was better than Zimmerman. Feel bad for that guy.
  22. 3 factors that benefit UND vs other bubble teams: UNI - common opponent Montana - UNI lost 23-26 and UND crushed McNeese - common opponent UNC - McNeese won 17-14 and UND won 38-13 Montana - common opponents Sac State, Portland State, and Idaho. Both teams were 2 and 1 vs these teams. Montana's total points spread was 24 against these teams, and UND had a point spread of 28. Our Idaho loss can be cancelled out by their Portland State loss. We only beat Portland State by 7, but they only beat Sacramento by 7. Bottom line, both teams are very similar in terms of performance vs common opponents, but UND crushed them 41-14 head to head.
  23. Pretty sure conference reps leave the room or cant talk about their own teams.
  24. You sure this is on espn3? Not seeing that anywhere.
