Please do not refer to this as a donation, because it's not! It's UND's cut of the profit from revenue generated by UND Athletics! UND gets all the money left over after money is set aside for reserve funds and future upgrades. If the REA wanted, they could allocate as much money as they wanted to these funds to starve UND of cash. The thing is, they pretty much already do that anyway. The usage agreement aims for a minimum 500k allocation of these profits to UND each year, and that's what I would expect UND to receive going forward if they want to try to prove a point. Also, none of the numbers that are ever thrown around that involve UND hockey at the REA ever include concessions. The REA pockets 100% of millions in concessions each year.

I kinda disagree. Freund want's the offense to be simplified. Let the players react, rather than think... Danny is gonna be talked about as the head-coach-to-be this time next year. Offense doesn't have to be rocket science, just learn your routes (but I've never played football outside of recess, so what do I know).

Not sure the plans. But it shouldn't, IMO. That park (and only that park) is a vital gathering space.

Another Santiago interview from Feb 12th, he said it was March 27th at UND for sure. Guessing they were trying to schedule the day before NDSU's which is the 28th. Plans must have fell through unfortunately.

It's other peoples money! At least hockey does have the potential to be profitable. Penn State has booked a profit every year since their programs inception http://www.statecollege.com/news/local-news/penn-state-hockey-with-five-years-at-pegula-on-the-books-program-continues-to-turn-profit,1479245/. Don't know much about Champaign, but it seems like the arena complex will be good for downtown, and the general community will benefit from 2 additional ice sheets and a hotel and anything else that is included in the plans. That said, I don't have any idea how much money taxpayers would be pumping into this. I think probably have a similar line of thought when it comes to funding projects like this with taxpayer money.

100% chance they announce it this spring, IMO. With the amount of work they have put into the new arena project and the outspokenness of their AD or President since the NHL sponsored study, I can't see this not happening. And the more teams the better. Tons of parity in college hockey, and maybe more teams can help UND separate themselves from the pack again, as talent gets diluted across more teams.

He's done well considering the state cuts UND's funding by 10% every chance they get... Not defending this, though.

Maybe the state of ND can endow a womens hockey team then. And mens baseball, so the increased womens scholarships and expenses (from the elimination of w hockey) doesn't cause title 9 trouble. Not gonna happen.

UND, SDSU, and NDSU all also have higher ticket sales than every team in the MAC and Sun Belt. Still think those conferences should be FCS, rather than us move up to FBS, but a new level/division is badly needed.
