Team did vote him as captain last year before a starter was officially named.

Fyi this is on fox college sports listed as a basketball game.

Really don't like Holm returning kicks. The risk reward just doesn't seem worth it. With how important he is to our defense, it just doesn't seem worth it to risk injury if he isn't a superstar return man. Plus it gasses him for when he plays defense... let the guy rest and stay fresh.

UND, REA announce new long-term extension to usage agreement
nodak651 replied to Goon's topic in Men's Hockey
And I might have just made it worse with the edit.... saying that she would claim that she donated Phase II as well, even though UND would really be paying for it (like the Betty). -
UND, REA announce new long-term extension to usage agreement

This. Why does she even give a !@#$ what the agreement is if the mission of the Ralph is to benefit the UND Athletic Department as a whole? She's power hungry and holding her dad's generous donation over UND's head. I hope I end up being wrong and there is movement on phase II, in coordination with the Ralph, after the Betty finally get's paid off. That's the only way this long term extension makes sense to me. Then she can say she made the primary donation for Phase II, even though it would be UND who's really paying off the bonds/loan with the REA taking a portion of half the revenue generated from 52% of ticket sales from ALL UND sports, 100% of concessions, 100% of REA suite revenue, advertising, and the REA hockey academy. -
UND, REA announce new long-term extension to usage agreement

What is the benefit to UND for locking in the same usage agreement that we already have, for ten additional years? Why do that? Hopefully Phase II can be paid for the same way the Betty was. -
I think this team definitely has the highest ceiling of any D1 team we've had, by far. We could be.... REALLY good. Super excited about the DB's and linebackers. Defense has the potential to be as good as any in the country. But the floor is pretty low as well with how thin we are at DL. DL will decide the fate of the season, and hopefully a freshman can come in and shine like Ott last year, before he got hurt.. Anyone hear how serious Pierre's injury was? Had him slotted as a guy who would get his shirt pulled, but the guys at fall camp have been mentioning other freshman DE names. Who is the small dude that keeps getting mentioned? Only like 215 pounds but still drawing attention? Is his athleticism a surprise? Whats the difference between him and any of our linebackers, because they would look fast as well, right? Like why not put Rodgers at DE with how big he is, and more depth at linebacker. What I'm trying to ask is how do coaches project certain people to be DE's while being so small? What do they look for that make them think DE and not linebacker?
-
It would be a lot easier to be optimistic if the coaches wouldn't leave predictably gaping holes in the line up go unrecruited for years on end. QB for a while... and we've been talking about finding another DT for two years now.... Not even a juco came in to help get our hopes up. What do ya know, its a huge question mark this year. Special Teams, despite how much Bubba values them, have ndone nothing but regress, and he keeps the coach. UND fans know the weeknesses of this team because the obvious stuff gets left on the back burner! I think it might have been the 3-8 year where we had the highest pre season expectations and look what happened.

After reading the article, I don't think "almost" means what you think it does!
-
Id rather he report what he thinks is accurate rather than make homer predictions and assessments. He's the NEWS, not a cheerleader. Whats the point of reading him otherwise?
-
Not sure. I'll wait and find out, but UNDBIZ's comment makes the most sense to me.
-
You think multiple "high level" donors died and left UND tens of millions, without telling UND their intentions, even though they were already existing donors? Highly unlikely. Maybe someone left UND a winning lottery ticket!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Your hot take is wrong. Bequest contributions would already have been counted and applied to a prior year's fundraising total as planned giving. "Fundraising includes new gifts, pledges, grants, and bequest commitments." The reported fundraising number isn't the same as the actual cash flow to UND.

NDSU just needs to lose to ANYONE, really. They are on a pedestal and any loss that they have would help. But they don't lose.

Thanks for posting this. You sure it's all D3's? "AN" institution.... is this specifically about St. Thomas? "Review of Reclassification Process. (Fairness/Well-Being/Operational) The Strategic Vision and Planning Committee will continue to discuss whether an institution should have an opportunity to reclassify from Division III to Division I, without first requiring that institution be a Division II member, noting the importance of ensuring preparedness for Division I membership."
-
Yeah, I just dont get it, because a huge percent of their sports readers probably aren't even local anymore, right? Hopefully they know their stats.

So you lied or were wrong?

Don't think this was posted - St. Thomas just hired two Penn State guys.. http://www.d3boards.com/index.php?topic=4550.93375

Gotcha. Thanks. This is interesting - I see St. Thomas in the Summit's future... http://www.d3boards.com/index.php?topic=4550.93375 Could also mean that they are going d2 for everything but hockey I guess. Edit: The rule is that all of the qualifying sports need to have 6 members, right? Do they already have a waiver? If so, neither of us know if the NCAA would grant another. Perhaps they would.
-
Can't the Summit just pay UNC to bring their baseball over? Give them an annual subsidy for 5 years or something. They could use the money.

Kinda agree. I'm against Augie, but there are tiny D1 schools all across the East coast. Augie isn't really much different than the NEC schools, for instance. If I was dictator, Augie would be the absolute last resort, but if they end up joining us in D1, it definitely does not make the move up pointless.

Is it media day right now? Any radio interviews scheduled?

And quality people. I remember a certain CB who would tackle a guy after like a 20 - 30 yard loss, and then celebrate in the guys face... emberassing
