  1. All else equal, Freund's style will be way more engaging for casual fans and students. Attendance will be better, assuming the product is improved. Pace of play will help greatly. I can see the game against Drake having lower attendance than the first game this year, however.
  2. Wasn't Danny the only guy that stayed on staff when muss was fired? I think that also has to say a lot about his potential and what he means to the program. I think this was the right move, given the current circumstances.
  3. Did Jal travel? Sealed not selecting the best shots...
  4. Dooley and Klabo both followed out.
  5. http://volleytalk.proboards.com/thread/75651/bracketology-11-21?q=denver Looks like the Summit could potentially be a two bid league this year, with Denver losing to South Dakota in the conference tourney. Impressive for the Summit if this happens. I know Pryor talked about this a lot when we were in the Big Sky, and he was always hoping that that could happen when we were over in that league.
  6. I think it would have been cool if they could somehow incorporate dorms into a project like this... the student experience would be awesome, compared to having to walk all the way from the Wilki complex. Not sure if a parking ramp will be built beneath this, but it should be, especially with the winters that we have and the lack of on campus parking. A pub would also be an awesome addition in the new union, but not gonna happen. Next up needs to be the business school. Everyone on campus takes classes there, and I think a new building there would have a much bigger impact in recruiting students than the Union. Anyone hear any rumblings on when this would happen? Would be awesome if they could get a name like Cargill attached to it. University of North Dakota Cargill School of Business.
  7. Kind of. He's the had coach at Cretin Derham Hall. https://www.cretin-derhamhall.org/athletics-archive/boys-teams/football/meet-coaches/ From wiki: Coaching career[edit] Bollinger was the head coach at Hill-Murray School in St. Paul and led them to their first state tournament berth in recent history. In 2012, he became the quarterbacks coach at the University of Pittsburgh, but left the program to pursue non-coaching opportunities after the 2013 season. Currently, Bollinger is the quarterbacks coach for Cretin-Derham Hall High School in St. Paul, a school known for turning out Division I-caliber college football talents.[5] On December 21, 2015, Bollinger was named the head football coach at Cretin-Derham Hall, after longtime coach Mike Scanlan resigned.[6]
  8. Haven't seen this mentioned anywhere - does UND need to wait 30 days like they do for a head coach, if they aren't already employed by the university?
  9. How many FBS games do we have scheduled for our transition?
  10. No kidding. He could also be the interim head coach. Or he could do well as an OC, and the head coach wouldn't need to get fired.
  11. I will trust Chaves and the decisions that he made in keeping Bubba and only playing 11 games next year. I think that is the right call. But that was not his only option - if he picked up one FBS game for next year, that would have been enough money to buy out Bubba's contract without impacting the budget.

    2019 Season

Could see chaves not wanting to play the extra game to prevent injuries and stay healthy for........ playoffs.
  13. To anyone trying to predict the strength of the schedule next year, good luck. Weber may very well follow in SUU's footsteps. Just to refresh - this years pre season poll: 2018 Big Sky Football Coaches Poll School Total Points (First-place votes) Eastern Washington 134 (6) Weber State 124 (3) Northern Arizona 121 (3) Idaho 101 (1) Sacramento State 94 Southern Utah 91 Montana 82 Montana State 76 UC Davis 64 Cal Poly 40 Northern Colorado 30 Idaho State 29 Portland State 21
  14. Why is that? Despite having great talent at running back, our offense was still mediocre at best. We should have an older, bigger, and better OL next year, and we still have JJ. Wanzek will be back, as will Izzy and Cam. Our QB's will all have another year of experience. On D we basically only lose Tank and Cieslak, but Ott will be back opposite mason bennett. Nose is the only hole on the roster I'm really seeing. Every team has some seniors that they have to replace, but most of our talent will be back, and there are always young guys that step in and surprise.
  15. Could the decision on Knauf be partly due to roster turnover and recruits not coming in? Guys like Rain Slaiter not coming in have killed the OL depth.
  16. True, but Alex will phrase a question in a way that allows Chaves to say Bubba is staying, if he has made that decision. I'm guessing it's either something like that, or Chaves will say that he has a year end review with Bubba scheduled. Alex will broach the subject, imo.
  17. Will do, if nobody beats me to it. They record it today, but I don't think it is released until Tomorrow. It's a good weekly listen. https://www.stitcher.com/podcast/sit-down-and-cheer/the-bill-chaves-podcast
  18. PSU win would make UND look better. Not gonna happen though lol
  19. If anyone is bored tonight. Portland State plays EWU at 9:00. A Portland State win would be helpful.
  20. As of now, we are ranked higher in that poll than both Montana schools and many MVFC schools, including UNI. Southland might have 2 or 3 ranked in that poll though. We need the southland to only have one team in. The simple ratings system will probably be way more important. I wish the formula or rankings were public.
  21. Dont forget to factor in whether or not an extra flight could be needed. Say all else is equal, and Montana and Montana State have the highest bids, but North Dakota and South Dakota are relatively close, they could give UND or USD a home game instead of one of the Montana's, if the cost of a flight is more than the difference in bids. This example is hypothetical and doesnt factor in conference affiliation or any other circumstances. Also, listing multiple unrelated factors allows them to justify almost any decision they make.
  22. We want conference schools to get better, not worse. A rising tide lifts all boats, or something like that. We should wan't all of the schools in our conference to be winners, and the goal should be to compete with the MVC. Welcoming a school like Augie, because it limits SDSU and USD's potential is ass backwards. And it's not worth it to sell out for a few bucks from Denny, which we won't get in the first place.
