  1. Big series next weekend. We could really bury the Dogs with a sweep!!
  2. And an 8 point lead in the conference. Thank you St Cloud!!
  3. A community-wide prayer and fundraising event for Hunter Pinke was held tonight at Hope Church in Grand Forks. Put on in partnership with Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) which Hunter is heavily involved in. Whether you are a person of faith or not, this is a great testament to people of all backgrounds coming together in support of a inspiring young man. Message from Hunter and Bubba at the 41 minute mark. I encourage all to watch. #PinkeStrong https://fbwat.ch/1qnaU7xcK1LuKa2v
  4. The no goal sucked, but so did giving up 2 goals on the first two shots. Don’t put yourself in a position where you need a late goal to win. Come out tomorrow with some urgency.
  5. So I realize camp is a long ways away, but who does everyone think is the frontrunner for the QB1 job this coming season? Schuster seems to be in the lead for the position. I don't see Grover moving ahead. I like how Freund uses Boltman. I think they need to have him pass the ball more so that opposing defenses don't just play the run because that is what he does the majority of the time he is in there. Gonna have a redshirt freshman in Schuster and 2 true freshman quarterbacks on the roster next year. With the redshirt rules now, I hope we can see Quincy Vaughn get in there. (hopefully after we are up big in the second half )
  6. NDSU is never going to move up to FBS in its current state. Only "move up" is if the P5 schools split off and the G5 and select FCS schools create a new devision of football. The reason NDSU won't go FBS....$$$$$$$$$$. Going FBs costs A LOT of money. NDSU can't afford it. Traveling to MWC or MAC schools costs money. NDSU can't afford it. Can we all just stop the "NDSU to FBS" talk? It is NEVER going to happen.
  7. UND 2020 Football schedule with 2019 overall record (*2019 playoff team). Valparaiso 1-11 @Kansas St 8-5 @Youngstown St 6-6 South Dakota St.* 8-5 Missouri St. 1-10 W. Illinois 1-11 @Portland St. 5-7 South Dakota 5-7 @Illinois St * 10-5 @NDSU * 16-0 S. Illinois 7-5 This year we play 5 teams that had a winning record in 2019. (K St, SDSU, Illinois St, NDSU, and S. Illinois.) The other 6 games are definitely winnable. Especially considering 3 of those teams only had 1 win last season and they are all at home (Valpo, MO St., and W. Illinois). Even though we play some MVFC bottom dwellers from last year, our SOS in the Valley will still be pretty good ?(In regards to playoff selection). 7 wins will probably be the number of wins this team needs to get to in order to make the playoffs. Win the 6 games we are supposed to and find a way to at least win 1 of the other 5 games.
  8. Is that Hendricks the typical holder? Seems like JMU would have noticed that. Pretty sneaky move if he got in there undetected!! Definitely the play of the game and one hell of a play call.
  9. Guys. North Dakota State didn’t win the Championship today.....
  10. https://www.facebook.com/groups/443827783164712/permalink/452456855635138/ We all go through tough times in our lives. But what Hunter is going through, hopefully none of us have to ever experience. The positive attitude Hunter has shown through all of this is simply amazing. He has every right to be sad, mad, and frustrated. But that's just not in his DNA. He continues to inspire me and thousands of others with his attitude of never giving up and working hard. I don't know what the future hold for Hunter. But one thing I am almost certain of is that Hunter will use this experience for the greater good. He will be a light to those who fell like they are in darkness. He will encourage others with his attitude, work ethic, and his big smile all the time no matter what.
  11. https://www.grandforksherald.com/sports/football/4857480-UND-promotes-Brett-Holinka-to-defensive-coordinator#.XheU8ICHbVw.twitter "Holinka said UND will continue to run a 3-4 defense."
  12. I think the Mariucci Classic will be the games at Target Field if they decide to do it. They typically do it around that weekend anyway. Why not have 4 fan bases all located in Minnesota purchase 3 game ticket passes January 2nd and 3rd. Makes too much sense not to do it.
  13. Autobids to all FBS Conference Champions: SEC - LSU AAC - Memphis Big 10 - Ohio St. Mt. West - Boise St. ACC - Clemson Sunbelt - Appalachian St. Big 12 - Oklahoma Conf. USA - Florida Atlantic Pac 12 - Oregon MAC - Miami (OH) At large bids to the next 6 teams using the current ranking system Georgia Baylor Wisconsin Florida Penn St. Utah Seed the teams based on the current ranking system (avoiding conference head to head rematches) Highest seed hosts in first two rounds. Semifinals are Bowl games, and Championship game remains the same.
  14. So hire someone that does know how to run it. Relinquish control of the defense fully to the new DC and let them run it. It's not like Bubba has no clue how a 4-3 defense sorks. They scheme against it virtually every game.
  15. Bonus points to any alive the last time UND ran a 4-3 defense
  16. Biggest argument for people against expanding the playoffs is "every game matters". Well, in this scenario, getting a top 4 seed is huge. Hosting a quarterfinal game and getting a bye when your opponent just played the week before is a huge advantage. As long as the TV revenue (which would be massive" is shared amongst the schools or conferences of teams participating, this would be a no brainer. Think hoer amped everyone gets about the NCAA basketball tournament. This would be no different. Of course, this makes too much sense, so it will never happen.
  17. Only thing that is going to prevent it from happening is ejecting players from the game like they do in College. Even of Clowney would have been flagged for it, it is probably worth it if he has to leave the game in his mind. Eject these players from the game and they will think twice about doing it.
  18. Imagine an FBS playoff that mirrors the NFL. Only with no Conferences (and no reseeding after the first round). Teams ranked 1-12 get in with the top 4 teams getting a bye. First and second round games are hosted by the higher seed. Semifinals and Championship still remain the same with 2 Bowl games and the Championship game. Imaging 11 FBS playoff games instead of just 3!!
  19. Well, He nailed the OC hire!!
  20. If there is going to be a college game at Target Field, UND will be playing. There is no other fan base that travels as well as UND fans. No chance UMD would fill even half the stadium, Look at the Regional in Fargo a couple years ago. Look at the Frozen Faceoff. Heck, look at their home games. Bulldog fans aren't coming out in droves and traveling to games now. A UMD/UAH game at Target Field would be a disaster for attendance.
  21. https://www.facebook.com/groups/443827783164712/permalink/449977489216408/ Jan. 6, 2020 day ten update: Our big win of the day happened early this afternoon when Hunter was discharged from St. Anthony Hospital in Lakewood, Colo. and transferred to Craig Hospital in Englewood, Colo. Craig solely focuses on the rehabilitation of traumatic spinal and brain injury patients. There are about 88 beds in this facility and now begins “training camp” as Hunter said today. I asked any insight he wanted to share tonight and he said, “See ya’ in three months!” Then after some pause, he said, “You know that feeling before that really big game? You try to envision how to respond in certain situations? I am feeling it. Except it’s not a quarter or a half. It’s for three months. The start matters just as much as the finish. Start fast. Finish strong.”
  22. Our defense gave up an average of 28.5 points per game and 398 yards per game. All respect to Schmidt, but should we really be that upset he is leaving?
  23. https://www.grandforksherald.com/sports/4471148-List-of-UND-hockey-future-nonconference-opponents-NCAA-hockey-regional-sites-and-Frozen-Fours As per Schloss, our non conference opponents for 2020-2021 are: vs. Penn State in Nashville (Hall of Fame Game), single game, Oct. 17. vs. Minnesota vs./at Bemidji State at Cornell vs. Niagara Could play one of the Bemidji games at Target Field and I guess determine if the other game is in Grand Forks or Bemidji. To me that is the best option. Not sure how many Bemidji fans would travel to Minneapolis, but certainly more than any other opponent.
  24. Doesn’t need to be the Gophers. Given that we play them at the Ralph, it likely won’t. NDSU proved you don’t need to play a school from Minneapolis to play a home game in Target Field. I think a game against Michigan would be a better option. Place would a sea of green. Omaha was a blast. This would be even better. Plus the ice would be far better given it is a game in Minnesota and not Nebraska and the NHL is involved in preparing the ice. I’m all for it!!
  25. Latest update on Hunter from his mom. Day seven, Jan. 3, 2019 update: “I can’t wait to get back to work,” Hunter said today. He sat in his wheelchair and rolled it down the hallway with the PT and OT staff. It wore him out but the progress we’ve seen in the past few days in miraculous and we’re praying for more miracles. This is the new normal. We won’t sugarcoat it. It’s painful, grueling and we celebrate each day’s “wins.” We also need to understand the “rules” of the new game we’re playing. Hunter is an athlete and a competitor. When we were told yesterday Hunter’s spinal cord injury is the most severe as measured by the ASIA (American Spinal Injury Assn.) test we also learned the percentage of people who walk again with a complete or total spinal cord injury is two percent. Hunter said “Wow! That’s so much better than I thought it would be. I’ve been in the two percent category before.” He went on to explain going to be a Division I athlete when coming from a class of 18 students, playing Class B nine-man football and other life experiences that built his character. In the category of little wins, today Hunter was given a bigger and longer hospital bed which for his large frame was much awaited and “is so awesome.” We are surrounded by an incredible medical staff and I will share more about them soon but we know this is where Hunter was meant to be cared for at this time. In the category of big wins, late this afternoon we were verbally told we have insurance APPROVAL and medical clearance to transport Hunter to Craig Hospital in the Denver area early next week to begin his rehabilitation. From where we were a week ago, this is a BIG praise. This has been the most grueling week of our lives and yet the most hope-filled. One week ago today, Hunter’s life and the lives of all who are connected to him changed as a result of a skiing accident. Hunter did not lose consciousness. He clearly remembers the accident on “an easy blue run” as he says and we look at the dent on his ski helmet every day with thankfulness. For anyone who has experienced trauma, tragedy, and adversity, you know the survival mode you enter to get through each and every moment. We’ve been carried by your immense prayers, care, and love. We can only explain this outreach as a greater purpose and calling. God's got this. Hunter is alive. He does not have a brain injury. He has his mind, voice, use of his arms and hands and will work hard to accomplish new goals he has set for himself. Hunter’s path is not one we could see or know. He’s shared last year the UND Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) theme was “Why me? Why not me.” We believe he has been prepared for this journey as best he can. Is there a lot of emotion? Severe pain, adversity, and unknowns? Yes. God is building a greater story from this experience, not only for Hunter but for thousands joining us in prayer. As a dear friend shared very early on last weekend with us, "more people will go to heaven from this experience." Hunter is absolutely more faithful in his outlook right now than Nathan or I am. His complete trust has strengthened our faith just in the past week. Keep praying please, anytime, anywhere. God listens and comforts. Prayers are needed as it’s a lot to process and persevere through and continues to be a traumatic situation. We also see many around us in this hospital in need of prayers. You have those same types of people hurting and broken around you. Let's love on them, pray for them and fill them with hope as we have been this past week and will continue to be uplifted. Specific prayer requests: For Hunter’s continued medical stability and mental and physical strength building each day For Hunter and fellow spinal cord injury patient Todd to get to Craig Hospital next week and get settled into their new hospital rooms and begin their rehab regimen For all of the insurance approvals and housing needs Nathan and I are working to get done at Craig Hospital can be finalized on Monday For our daughters and our entire family to continue to be supported and loved on a little extra during this time. Our daughters (ages 10 and 12) are experiencing this far away from us and we’re so grateful for those rallying around them. We miss them terribly and love seeing them on FaceTime daily. Thank you. Your support is unwavering. Nathan and I talked together about how people have filled all the gaps in our life over the past week and are helping us find a path forward in our new normal. It impacts almost all aspects of our daily life. This network has filled all the needs we had and so much more. We will forever be grateful. #pinkestrong
