Not trying to derail this thread into a nickname debate, but this is why retiring the nickname was absolutely the correct thing to do. We wouldn't even be having a discussion about submitting bids for playoffs games. Had we kept the Sioux name, we would never EVER host a home playoff game. Even if we were the #1 seed. We didn't win the bid for this game, but it is refreshing moving forward that at least that is an option for years to come.

Not to rag on Bubba after he led this team to the playoffs, but It would be in the programs best interest to have Bubba fulfil his contract and then hand over the team and let most of the coaches stick around. Coaching changes tend to shake the boat too much and affects recruiting big time. I really think Freund is the heir apparent to be the next head coach at UND. His offense really was the spark that this team needed to get to 7 wins and make the playoffs. He is a young guy who has coached many positions and will have a few years running our offense under Bubba.

Not scoring for 8 mins in the first half really hurt us. Gophers came out cold. Had a chance to put them on the ropes early, but failed to take advantage.

Taking it to the hole is resulting in charges every time.

Almost crazy to say, but if we beat Weber, we are 8-3 with 2 wins against seeded teams. Might have been seeded!! Again, crazy talk, but with all the crazy games today, it might have happened!!

If we lose again with a chance to make the playoffs on the last game of the season, especially against an awful team, Bubba need to go.

12 games this year, and UND has given up more than 2 goals just twice!! Goaltending/defense really stepping it up!!

Well, UND has a top 20 SOS, will have 7 FCS wins if the win on Saturday, and has two pretty good "quality loses" @NDSU and @Weber. I think we are right in his wheel house!!

As long as Parise and Suter are still on roster sucking up cap money, this will be the status quo for the Wild no matter who the coach is.
