BigGreyAnt41 Posted March 14, 2012 Posted March 14, 2012 That goal song (Chelsea Dagger) needs to go. It's the Hawks goal theme song. I wish the production crew and Sioux team could find an original song of their own. Like "Stand Up and Cheer"? Quote

I wish the production crew and Sioux team could find an original song of their own. Given that the players and coaches requested Chelsea Dagger as a goal song, I'm okay with it and a lot of Sioux fans appear to have embraced it. I get what you're saying about originality, but whatever keeps the team happy is fine in my book. It could be worse. At least the Blackhawks are the only team in the NHL that uses Chelsea Dagger. Several teams use Song 2 (Blur), Rock 'n Roll Part 2 (Gary Glitter), The Whip (Locksley), or Howlin' for You (Black Keys). Also, the UND band starts playing "Stand Up & Cheer" toward the end of Chelsea Dagger so fans get to hear both. Quote
MafiaMan Posted March 14, 2012 Posted March 14, 2012 That goal song (Chelsea Dagger) needs to go. It's the Hawks goal theme song. I agree 100%, but thanks to Gary Glitter's fondness for kiddie porn, I don't think "Rock and Roll Part II" is coming back anytime soon. Quote

bigskyvikes Posted March 15, 2012 Posted March 15, 2012 Duly noted. My point was that I actually know people who were surprised to hear that the Chicago Blackhawks play the same goal song as North Dakota since they thought it was a Grand Forks thing. Videos are a different story. My personal favorite video was one involving O'Fortuna...I think I recall a version of that from the 2006 regional. Yes I agree and I send emails to REA to beg them to do it more! It made my skin crawl and my spine tingle! O Fortuna is the best pregame for sports!!! Quote
bigskyvikes Posted March 15, 2012 Posted March 15, 2012 "Stand up and shout" by Sotto needs to be played instead of welcome to the jungle! Quote

ericpnelson Posted July 19, 2012 Posted July 19, 2012 Sail would be a cool Saturday night song next year... real cool when basketball team used it for intro against SU Quote
snooty89 Posted July 20, 2012 Posted July 20, 2012 He's talking about the pregame videos (neither of which uses the songs you mentioned). The Friday video contained quotes, old photos/videos, and highlighted the hard work, determination, and passion associated with Fighting Sioux hockey. The soundtrack was "In the Air Tonight." The Saturday video contained images of old newspaper headlines; National Championship game footage, audio, and photos; as well as a highlight reel from the last couple of years. The soundtrack was Clint Mansell's "Requiem for a Dream." Out of all the pregame videos I've seen over the years, this one is my favorite. It would be nice to be able to see the videos online or something with the nickname appearing to be on the way out. I just think they were so well made and wonder if they will ever be able to be shown in the Ralph this year. Quote

GeauxSioux Posted August 15, 2012 Posted August 15, 2012 I was just listening to the John Gibson show and he played Gimme some Lovin' before the break. I posted the youtube video on the previous page, so no need to repost. I'm not up on a lot of todays music and am not suggesting any warm up music, but believe Gimme some Lovin' would be great for the "GOAL" music. [ From: http://www.metrolyri...avis-group.html ] Well, my temperature is rising, got my feet on the floor Crazy people rocking 'cause they want to go more Let me in baby, I don't know what you got But you better take it easy 'cause this place is hot And I'm so glad you made it, so glad you made it You got to gimme some lovin', gimme, gimme some lovin' Gimme some lovin', gimme, gimme some lovin' Gimme some lovin' everyday Well, I feel so good, everything's getting high You better take it easy 'cause the place is on fire Been a hard day and I had no work to do Wait a minute baby, let it happen to you And I'm so glad we made it, so glad we made it You got to gimme some lovin', gimme, gimme some lovin' Gimme some lovin', gimme, gimme some lovin' Gimme some lovin' everyday Well, I feel so good, everything's getting high You better take it easy 'cause the place is on fire Been a hard day nothing went too good Now I'm gonna relax, buddy everybody should And I'm so glad we made it, so glad we made it You got to gimme some lovin', gimme, gimme some lovin' Gimme some lovin', gimme, gimme some lovin' Gimme, gimme, gimme some of your lovin', baby You know I need it so bad Gimme some of your lovin', baby Quote

watchmaker49 Posted August 15, 2012 Posted August 15, 2012 A great song to play in the 3rd period if their are winning would be "Closing Time" by Leonard Cohen. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7-0lV5qs1Qw "Closing Time" Ah we're drinking and we're dancing and the band is really happening and the Johnny Walker wisdom running high And my very sweet companion she's the Angel of Compassion she's rubbing half the world against her thigh And every drinker every dancer lifts a happy face to thank her the fiddler fiddles something so sublime all the women tear their blouses off and the men they dance on the polka-dots and it's partner found, it's partner lost and it's hell to pay when the fiddler stops: it's CLOSING TIME Yeah the women tear their blouses off and the men they dance on the polka-dots and it's partner found, it's partner lost and it's hell to pay when the fiddler stops: it's CLOSING TIME Ah we're lonely, we're romantic and the cider's laced with acid and the Holy Spirit's crying, "Where's the beef?" And the moon is swimming naked and the summer night is fragrant with a mighty expectation of relief So we struggle and we stagger down the snakes and up the ladder to the tower where the blessed hours chime and I swear it happened just like this: a sigh, a cry, a hungry kiss the Gates of Love they budged an inch I can't say much has happened since but CLOSING TIME I swear it happened just like this: a sigh, a cry, a hungry kiss the Gates of Love they budged an inch I can't say much has happened since CLOSING TIME I loved you for your beauty but that doesn't make a fool of me: you were in it for your beauty too and I loved you for your body there's a voice that sounds like God to me declaring, declaring, declaring that your body's really you And I loved you when our love was blessed and I love you now there's nothing left but sorrow and a sense of overtime and I missed you since the place got wrecked And I just don't care what happens next looks like freedom but it feels like death it's something in between, I guess it's CLOSING TIME Yeah I missed you since the place got wrecked By the winds of change and the weeds of sex looks like freedom but it feels like death it's something in between, I guess it's CLOSING TIME Yeah we're drinking and we're dancing but there's nothing really happening and the place is dead as Heaven on a Saturday night And my very close companion gets me fumbling gets me laughing she's a hundred but she's wearing something tight and I lift my glass to the Awful Truth which you can't reveal to the Ears of Youth except to say it isn't worth a dime And the whole damn place goes crazy twice and it's once for the devil and once for Christ but the Boss don't like these dizzy heights we're busted in the blinding lights, busted in the blinding lights of CLOSING TIME The whole damn place goes crazy twice and it's once for the devil and once for Christ but the Boss don't like these dizzy heights we're busted in the blinding lights, busted in the blinding lights of CLOSING TIME Oh the women tear their blouses off and the men they dance on the polka-dots It's CLOSING TIME And it's partner found, it's partner lost and it's hell to pay when the fiddler stops It's CLOSING TIME I swear it happened just like this: a sigh, a cry, a hungry kiss It's CLOSING TIME The Gates of Love they budged an inch I can't say much has happened since But CLOSING TIME I loved you when our love was blessed I love you now there's nothing left But CLOSING TIME I miss you since the place got wrecked By the winds of change and the weeds of sex.
