The rumors that I am donating tens of millions of dollars are completely unfounded, I'm afraid.

So this isn't you pledging to the cause?

So I've heard the price to get bleachers in the HPC is being quoted at near $1 million.  Someone please tell me that's for more than just the bleachers.

Engineers and architects come up with estimates during all phases of planning and design. Having an estimated price does not mean it is close to being built.

I didn't respond to anything with the word "estimate".  UND Biz clarified.

any more money spent at the hpc phase 1 or 2 should be ....athletes>spectators

Considering the bleachers were supposed to be part of Phase 1 and will actually allow for quality meets to be held there along with cleaning up a lot of the storage issues they are having, I disagree. Phase 2 requires a significant capital push along with re-approval from the SBoHE. Finishing Phase 1 does not.

even if und hosts "quality" meets very very few people will show up.

I throw up in my mouth a little each time I drive by the re-purposed Ray Richards golf course.  What a pathetic decision - yet they persist.

What's it been re-purposed as?

There was a pretty good turnout at the meet earlier this year but that's not that point. The finishing touches should be put on Phase 1, it would significantly add to how impressive the building already is. There's a world class track in there that a lot of teams in the midwest would love to run on, which will only help T&F recruiting along with improving the building overall.

Cross country course next month. Nothing else I'm aware of.

An un-golf course - They had some grandiose plans of a dinky-town but that is many years down the road.  Shamefully, they had other offers to run it as a golf course.  But, hey, why do something that makes Grand Forks a better city to live in.

The retail industry is in such disarray now, so the Ray Richards redevelopment was probably pushed back.  Nothing will likely happen til some company takes Macy's old spot and someone else take over Sear's spot when they finally declare permanent bankruptcy.  And that still leaves question marks over JC Penny's spot.

And the old Scheels location.

“I’ve often said that UND has some of the most beautiful ‘bones’ of any campus I’ve seen,” Kennedy said.

The campus master plan, part of the UND strategic plan, seeks to preserve those bones, or legacy structures, that can be repurposed to meet current needs.

The goal is to make the campus more attractive and functional.

“Students decide whether to attend a university within the first seven minutes of their campus visit,” said Kennedy. “We need to help them choose UND.”

“Many of those ‘bones’ will form the core of the campus as we move forward,” said Kennedy. “Many will be preserved, some incorporated in the interior of new buildings, and others are just structurally too costly to preserve.”

wouldn't it be nicer if und sold the two wellsely college buidlings and they were turned into nice condos (4plex-2 up and 2 down) instead of tearing down two perfectly nice buildings right in the heart of campus?
