Depends on how his sophomore season goes. If he's over 40 points and they're in the Frozen Four again, would be surprised if he doesn't sign pro. If he stagnates slightly, could see Craig Conroy (Flames GM, Clarkson alum) keeping him in the NCAA for another year.

Now those are words you like to hear from your #1 forward: he's committed to being a leader & getting back to the FF. It certainly doesn't sound like he's using UND as just a stepping stone, but rather he actually cares about the program. 

He clearly trusts the coaching staff & his development at UND.

I think it's safe to say he wears a letter next year and wouldn't surprise me one bit if it's the "C". The leadership group next year is going to be the youngest ever. I would think it would be Emery, Swanson, Croal and Reschny.

I was explaining this to someone last night and realized that turnover is from April 2025 to October 2026 ... 18 months. 

 

Those three with an "extra letter" on the sweater seems reasonable. I'd be tempted to put the 'C' on Croal. Beyond that it's likely Reschny or a matter of who comes in.

Like the Boser pickup. I think we're going to see slightly different roster construction moving forward (or I hope we do). To me, there's no point having a "designated" depth skater anymore (the 15thF, 8thD). With the increased scholarship limits (how many does UND have dedicated to hockey now?), stack the roster.

One other detail about Boser: he's a North Dakotan (Minot).
He counts on the scholarship dollars books as in-state tuition (like Strinden did). 
Not a huge deal, but it leaves some dollars for others. 
And yes, Athletics pays the University.

First western Nodak kid to play at UND in 20 plus years.  Left Minot right at about Bantam age and went down to Phoenix.  I thought he was really good with the Fargo Force in two seasons there.  Initially a Miami commit before he took his talents to ASU. 

Of note, he was only -2 last year on a team that wasn't great with some injuries they encountered.
