Why?

It takes a good 6 months to understand if a new job is actually a right fit for adults. Why would it be different for college athletes? Let’s try and be realistic here

“As of Friday night, 10 UND players from the 2025 roster have announced an intent to transfer: Seidl, Fleming, all-MVFC cornerback Antonio Bluiett, defensive tackle Emmanuel Olagbaju, cornerback Idrique Carmichael, offensive lineman Nick Darling, quarterback Etienne Higgins, running back Randle Parker, offensive lineman Kuba Tyszka and wide receiver/tight end Seth Staloch.”

Not worried about defense no matter who stays or goes. Would absolutely love Lance Rucker to come back. And he’s an insanely important piece. But if we’re hanging our hat  on him to make a break us then we might as well stop now. Cause he could get hurt on the first play. We don’t want hostages here. We want bought in guys who believe. They are asking a lot of the committed to be here. So if they feel like their path to the field is too hard, can’t blame them for feeling like a change of scenery will help. If the rumors of Fleming coming  back are true, I like our weapons both inside and out. RB room gets another offseason to put muscle on. I like that room, It’s young, untested, but hungry!  We gotta figure out how to use our quick receivers better, Hoskins, Tai, and we have a talented tight end or two that we really need use to open up the middle of the field. I feel like that was largely ignored. This is a make or break year for Isaac.

Skill guys aren’t dynamic enough.

Wait until after the transfer portal period ends in late January to speculate … UND’s roster is nowhere near complete at this point.

For college football in 2026, the NCAA has established a single, condensed transfer portal window from

January 2 to January 16, 2026, eliminating the previous spring window for all players, including graduate transfers, to create more order, though activity is already happening behind the scenes. Teams can host recruits and have staff out on the road for traditional recruiting during this period as well.

Key Details for the 2026 Window:

Dates: January 2 – January 16, 2026.

Unified Window: This is the only window for all players (FBS/FCS), removing the separate spring window.

Graduate Transfers: No longer have year-round access; they must use the Jan. 2-16 window.

Coaching Changes: A new 15-day clock for transfers starts only if a coaching hire occurs after January 2.

Activity: Despite the official start, the portal is already busy with players entering and deals being struck before January 2.

I  would advise those who want UND football to compete for championships to contribute:

701 Award

1883 Sports

Not a deep pocket thing at all. $25 or $50 goes a long way. Save on drinks at a bar or eating out at a restaurant just one time and redirect to UND football.

Couldn't find this but assume that 701 donations are tax deductible and 1883 are not.

Read somewhere that a rediculous number, like 2/3, of DII portal entries do NOT find a new team.

If a kid declares for the portal their scholarship if they are on one should automatically end at the end of the current semester whether they decide to return or not.

Why?  The kid fulfilled his football commitment for the year.  The  academic part should follow as well.

These kids are treating it like a business so you if you declare for the portal it is like submitting yout resignation so you should be done as well with your scholarship.   These kids don't care about the academic part just the $$$ part.

How do you know they  don't care about  the  academic part?  I don't like the whole portal thing either but it is what it is.  Contract says he gave a year of football.  Shouldn't he get a year of education for that?

Is declaring for the portal the same as resigning at work?

Pretty close, both are quiting paid positions as these aren't amateurs anymore.

Why is it insecure?? There is an argument that the portal has ruined college sports.

It what way, now the power schools can take kids but before they had lots of talent that wasn’t playing that now can find a place to play. It concentrates the uber high end kids but disperse the next level to play.  As far as I know NDak benefited from portal this year and will probably next year. Just another form of evaluation and recruitment. Rucker maybe the only player difficult to replace.

Looks like UND has its first portal addition of the year—Marquis Edmond II, a safety from Virginia St.
