beastandco Posted Tuesday at 04:24 PM Posted Tuesday at 04:24 PM I have heard UND is in good standing with a specific player if he decides to leave his CHL team after this season. Nothing is imminent but there is mutual interest. Quote

But on the flip side, maybe he does love it there and sleeps well on buses 🤣 1 Quote

I'm hoping @beastandco is talking about a blue chippah CHL forward, because I think we're already gonna be good on D for next year. 1 Quote

I cannot confirm Carels is a silent commit but from what I have heard, I would not be surprised if he was. At the very least, I believe it is UND or Prince George next year. A lot of work has been done with him. Quote
nascar99 Posted Wednesday at 01:32 AM Posted Wednesday at 01:32 AM Cannot wait for the day where CHLers going to the NCAA is so normal that major junior players don't even think about moving up to the NCAA when they're ready, they just do it 1 Quote

dustnyou Posted Wednesday at 02:10 AM Posted Wednesday at 02:10 AM I have a hunch UND will be getting both Carels and DuPont. Four first round D-men on one team is crazy.. but I think it may happen. 1 Quote

Everything up to this point on DuPont is conjecture. His recruiting process will look similar to McKennas with less hype. I expect UND to be in his top 3/4 but on the outside looking in when it comes down to his final decision. Side note, the McKenna/Penn State saga has definitely made Verhoeff’s decision look better and potentially benefits UND in future recruiting battles for similar talents. I just don’t see that player being DuPont next year for UND. 1 2 Quote

Even Strathmann has been waiting around…maybe wants a look at some point. We’re not getting both Carels and DuPont. We’re getting one of those guys I’m assuming. 2 Quote

We’re not getting both Carels and DuPont. We’re getting one of those guys I’m assuming. Next year's d-core probably looks something like this: Laurila-Emery Strathmann-Verhoeff MacKenzie-?? Ex. Engels, ??, ?? I think it is very likely that Wiebe and Livanavage go pro and Jubenvill transfers. That leaves you with three open spots and a particular need for righties. Other than MacKenzie, Lindberg is probably the only committed defenseman that is ready to come in and he is a righty. He's been good, but not great for Fargo this year, so I'm guessing the coaching staff would rather he be more of a 7th-8th guy for us next year. That means two more spots to be filled, one of those being a spot for a presumed starter. Neither Carels nor DuPont is going anywhere next year where they won't be dressing every night, so I'm not sure I buy the popular idea that we're going to land two of that Carels, DuPont, Lin, and Rudolph group. In a perfect world, you land DuPont to fill the right side of the 3rd pair and then a depth guy to round out the group. Although the most likely scenario is probably that we get Carels and someone plays their offhand and I'm fine with that too. All of this is to say, I don't really think it is likely or necessary to get 2/4 from that group of elite defensemen. I'd much rather get one and save our remaining resources for an elite forward (Preston, the Rucks, etc.) 1 3 Quote

Spreading out all this talent makes college hockey that much harder to dominate. Keeping that good mix of upperclassmen and elite talent is going to be crucial to be consistent from year to year, but that still isn’t a guarantee if you look at teams on the bubble or out of the picture this year. yzerman19 Posted Wednesday at 09:57 PM Posted Wednesday at 09:57 PM Man, anything lower than the USHL is now a death sentence...CHL and NTDP will dominate chippah's...CHL and USHL will dominate age out depth and role players...going to be very, very hard to work your way to the NCAA if you aren't elite at 16 and it already wasn't easy...
