Notre Dame agreed to those terms?

Notre Dame brings a lot more to the table for the B10 then UND ever would. Also, I’m willing to bet Notre Dame negotiated a piece that benefits them.

I would hope part of the negotiations would a weekly game (or series) on one of the broadcast channels.

Hockey East only got 3 games on ESPNs premier channels. The thing that hockey East has going for them in this deal is a women’s hockey east that espn gets to air as part of the deal.

You just said it's against B1G rules to share BTN money with non B1G members?

And this isn't FB. Notre Dame is not a big time school in hockey or anything else besides FB.

I'm not a big fan of leaving the NCHC anyway; I just wouldn't want to leave unless it made sense financially and otherwise.

B10 wouldn’t, you have to be a full fledged B10 school to get a piece of the pie (it’s in their league rules) from their network.

thinking outside the box is fine but saying stupid things like getting rid of Duluth, St. Cloud and CC for lindenwood, TSU and a club team is just plain stupid. Adding those three diminishes our leagues strength TREMENDOUSLY.

stupid?

why did the ole wcha get broken up then?

if those 3 get 5k plus arenas built they will / would be great additions to nchc....I would take Augie and MSU over SCSU and Miami right now easily

Notre Dame (football or not) brings a lot more credibility to a network (no matter what sport). Exceptions for rules are given to schools like Notre Dame, not UND.

I wonder how many people at Notre Dame even know they sponsor hockey? 😷

Seriously though, it has been well documented that Minnesota hockey fans are not happy North Dakota is in a different conference now. I imagine Wisconsin fans have similar feelings.

Our program offers a large, passionate fan base that travels well and could help put butts in seats that would otherwise remain empty. Not to mention adding more eyeballs to television ratings.

But I am more than happy with our program remaining in the National CHAMPIONSHIP Hockey Conference. 🙂

you want to leave a conference that puts Hockey first for all teams to go to a conference that looks at college hockey as the 3rd/4th sport?

No, I don't. I like where we are. I'm just playing Devil's Advocate since a few people on here think it should be considered.

you are the company you keep....

as a university ....yes...being associated with u of m, u o w, mich, mich state, Notre dame instead of SCSU -dulth, cc, Omaha, kalamokoo states of the worlds ......yeah...easy choice.

that being said ...if they haven't asked und to be the 8th by now...it ain't coming.

I did watch the frozen 4. I also have 30 yrs experience w/radio and tv. Mhd mn spuds, concordia college sports. Also univ of iowa hawkeyes sports teams. All mens and womens sports. I upvoted your post as u have some good thoughts. As far as heinert being elite? Is it possible we arent talking about the same thing.  Heinert might be considered a good color guy. He doesnt/cant do play by play. Play by play is a specialty. Umm,he never undersells a goal? That’s possible.  He does oversell run of the mill plays. As well as, yelling too loud. He th audio levels of the mic. This happens because the midco sound crew is not paying attention. Heinert was hired because they got him cheap. Heinert could probably be a good color guy. With extensive training, he might be able to start doing genuine play by play. But he needs a ton of training. He also shouldnt stay in this market much longer. He needs to move on. Get his foot in the door of a major college athletics program. He does have talent. Midco does have good equipment. Go sioux

Yeah I remember the epic production qualities of your Spud HIGH SCHOOL broadcasts - unbelievable!! and CONCORDIA???  wow you did walk the walk!  AND Iowa Hawkeyes TOO???  BOTH men AND women???  No further questions your honor!  wow - thanks for bringing an amazing resume of broadcast credentials OVER 30 YEARS to criticize UND's production quality!!   Impressive....not

Heinert's PxP is strong enough to get him work on CBSSN (beyond NCHC hockey).

What you described (oversell and yell) sounds more like ESPN's Buccigrass.

Yea and the company that UND keeps, keeps winning national titles. You want to be associated with winners, not losers and the NCHC is doing the winning.

Alex H. is a good, smooth broadcaster, but not a great PxP guy, in any sport, really.  He's probably the best that Midco and CBSSN can get to do the games they are responsible for calling, which is definitely good enough.  I like Alex, but some of his rehashed phrases wear on me ("IN THE BACK OF THE NET!!!!!!")

Speaking of Starman, is there an heir apparent for analyzing hockey at that age level (College, World Juniors)?  I mean, he has been on about every channel that's ever covered that level of hockey, either as a live-action color analyst or an in-studio analyst, for many years.  He obviously loves it, so hope he'll do it for a while longer.

starman, no doubt, has wealth of hockey knowledge...but the amount of times that he drones on about some tiny factoid while game play is going on , is a bit irritating

And every player reminds him of some long ago player (sometimes even an obscure name that none of us recognizes).  I don't see all the positive feelings about Starman that many of you do. He is much better than no coverage at all.

Miami has been talking internally about moving to the CCHA. I think it will happen the next couple of years.

Like I said, unless the B1G makes it worth our while financially, we can just stay put in the National CHAMPIONSHIP Hockey Conference!!! :D

Leaving the NCHC costs around 1.5-2 million dollars. They'd suck in the CCHA, too.

I would imagine the travel costs is what's making them discuss the move.
