I would love some insight about the merits of a Dane Jackson hire. And I’m not being facetious here either, I genuinely want to know as I suspect there’s a lot to like about him as well. I’m guessing he’s wired into the Canadian recruiting circuit, knows the coaches, etc.

Wonder if Dane (& others on current staff) are in contact with James Patrick. Would be nice to start a Dub pipeline through him. Cole Reschny is a 2025 Draft 1st Round talent playing for Patrick's Victoria Royals, would be a great high end addition.

In my opinion it is the choice Chaves thinks will be the least amount of waves to rock the boat. The safe choice. Preserve our current roster and recruits as much as possible and Dane may just give us that for the time being. Not saying it’s right or wrong but I can see where Chaves might be thinking this way. Again just my opinion.

Getting news there are apparently a group of players who voiced that if it's not Dane they are gone, one of them being Livanavage.

I wouldn't be surprised if the players had a close relationship with Jackson.  As I understand it (having never played major college athletics) it's not unusual at all that the assistants are the closest to the players, while the head coach is more unapproachable.  It's the assistants who are there, sometimes keeping secrets, helping to clean up messes, etc...

I think that it was maybe Hak that talked a little about that after he was promoted.  How do you, as the head coach, adapt from being their buddy to being the head coach.  If Jackson is promoted, he'll have to do that.

I feel like this is typical but it sure seems like Berry tried to maintain that buddy buddy relationship. Players don’t refer to him as coach, they refer to him as Bubz. Now that doesn’t say for sure but just something I find interesting. I guess players likely referred to Hakstol as Hak but that seems a little more appropriate.

I have heard this as well. Dylan James is basing his decision on staying by Dane getting promoted and who will be staying in the program.

Confirmed. Also heard a playa or two has been offered nil deals one by nchc school and other by a big ten school

Can also confirm this has happened. Very interesting to see how it plays out.

Says more about the inbred culture of UND/Grand Forks than anything else. When these coaches get let go they are absolutely devastated and cannot believe it.

When’s the last time a UND hockey coach was fired?    Rube?

Hear me out: a second altitude training room…

Will that at least get us to a shootout with the CO schools?

Jackson has recruited a lot of great players and has an understanding on how to "sell" North Dakota to a kid. That is the big part that is missed in all this. Yes, we have the best facilities and 120% backing from alumni and the fans but you have to know how to sell a kid on coming to North Dakota.

The thing that is hard in regards to UND recruiting is getting a good portion of players from large metropolises such as Toronto, Montreal, Boston, Chicago, Detroit, Los Angeles, New York to want to go to Grand Forks North Dakota, as the vast majority of them aren't used to (relatively) smaller town living. Going to Ann Arbor, Minneapolis, Denver, Boston, Madison fits their idea of being in a university town and/or a bigger city/metro area, which they're used to. I believe Berry talked about this difficulty in one of the videos on YouTube where he takes visitors around The Ralph on a tour. Makes sense that the majority of UND's recruiting and thus player base has come from Western Canada and Minnesota over the years

Technically, Gino "resigned". But I think he was told "Resign or be fired".

True but we all know he was fired. 3 straight years of 7/8th place and first round wcha knockouts were not cutting it and they made the move before it got worse. You probably remember this, but you couldn't give tickets away those final three years of his time here.

You've better have convinced that kid before he gets off that plane and makes the drive from GFK to the Ralph...
