Just wrapped up episode 80 of Alive in Five with Gage Ausmus and Jordan Schmaltz. They are all in on Dane Jackson being the next coach and they say the boys in the locker room feel the same way.

So a lot of the same guys that missed the NCAAs in 22-23, were one and done in 23-24 and will be watching today in the stands?  Got it.

Perhaps off ice issues were more than we know.

“The off ice issues” have all been rumors that morphed into assumptions.  At least that’s the rumor.

Just reporting the news not opining here. But yes, I suppose when you put it that way.

There were 100% off-ice issues - especially relating to senior/graduate so-called leadership.

Truth!

My now wife came up to the Forks with me when we first started dating during the 2013/2014 season. We were playing Omaha. Wife born and raised in the Springs so it’s not as if she wasn’t used to cold winter weather but man, she was funny-we’re walking out of the Ralph after one of the games and it must’ve been about 20 below before the wind chill, it was so freaking cold and she turns to me as we’re trekking to our ice box of a frozen car and says, “If we ever get married, don’t even think about moving up here!” -We’re still in negotiations on that! It might happen one day!

I just had to look it up.  The first games I took her to were Sioux vs Gophers and it would've had to have been the 2007/2008 season.  I looked up the schedule and the date.  We played the Gophers at home 12/7 and 12/8.  The record shows that right around puck drop on 12/8, the temp was -25 without windchill lol

Well, if you can get away with almost anything and never held accountable, while enjoying one of the best arenas in the world..I guess I would be as well

This guy just became available….

Brings me a little joy.

Keep hiring the guys that keep getting fired. While the guy that over achieved never gets enough time to remotely succeed.

So IF Jackson is hired and will run things differently here is a question then why has he stuck around if his voice wasn't being heard and why did Berry keep him on if they were butting heads?

Lots of questions unfortunately too few answers.

Not surprised the players feel that way (they don't have to change anything-status quo).

Not surprised the podcasters feel that way since they played for him.

The local beat writer & most of the current & former players favor Jackson-somebody stop the presses!

A high-end hockey school requires a national search so the best possible option can be had. Making a decision based on familiarity is staying in the shallow end of the pool. If Jackson turns out to be the best candidate, so be it, but the AD needs to do an exhaustive search first to eliminate all other possibilities; to ensure that UND gets the best available guy.

How did Carle get the job at DU, and how has that worked out?

what a dumpster fire of an organization. What number coach is this since Haks days?

2?

And it’s the same two that get hired over and over and over and over again. Oddly they seem to replace each other at teams too.

It is ironic isn't it how they re-tread failed rather than give somebody new a look.  Its that way in corporate America too.  I remember before getting a break sitting there and thinking "you won't give me a shake with a proven track record of excellence albeit a click down, but you will hire the dude who has been fired from the job at 3 different companies?!"  I then learned the sad fact that many people making the hiring decisions are mostly concerned about fall-out to themselves rather than what is best.  Easy excuse if guy fails to say, well he was experienced as opposed to taking a chance and having somebody fail and you having to deal with the consequences.  "I told you he wasn't ready for that responsibility yet, but you didn't listen to me"

ABsolutely, my point in the above is that the same thing applies with head coaching decisions.  It takes a lot of courage to pull the trigger on David Carle for example when he was a young boy wonder...it was a great risk that has paid out for whomever was his biggest champion.

The DU AD obviously has an eye for talent.

Hmm...four and half years under Montgomery, yet he turned the DU ship around and proved to be possibly the best recruiter in the land. I'm throwing my hat in the ring for Dane. The players like playing for him and have confidence in him (meaning they won't bail) is all I need to know.
