Schloss makes the comment that UND just fired the most successful coach on campus. Which in my opinion says more about athletics as a whole. If your best coach gets fired what does that have to say about the rest of them

Correct

Looks like the new coach is going to have to win over Schlossman. He’s throwing a fit like we haven’t seen since women’s hockey was dropped.

Chaves looked at the numbers when Schlossman used to keep track of the record in the business suits under Hakstol, then had to go back and figure manually when Schlossman quit keeping track of it under Berry and decided 90% was a whole lot better than 50%, so actually it is Schlossman's fault.   Nevermind the revenues lost in home ice playoffs, regionals, and fan apathy.  He should be excited for a new coach, because it might create more excitement like it did for the football program and fan excitement is better for the Grand Forks Herald.  I know I had been getting sick of reading one dimensional reporting.

Someone should ask Schlossman how much longer Minnesota should have gone on with Lucia, as he had a winning record.   To be fair to Schlossman I am sure it is a whole lot easier to do interviews after losses with Berry than it was under Hakstol, because one was an intense competitor and probably a little ornery, and one just had the aww shucks we lost attitude.

UND hoisted in Sioux Falls a year they missed the tournament

Actually, UND hasn't hoisted since Berry's first year, which is the problem.

IMO if any of the other sports had the resources and funding of hockey they would be much more successful.

A lot of “they just lost in OT”

If only they had Dman that could stay healthy was the actual summary.

Hey, I used some of the same arguments Schlossman was making defending Berry for years, but one has to ask Schlossman the question, how long could that chart that Oxbow referenced go on before it became a problem and not just "unlucky" in his eyes?  When you see the fanbase slipping into apathy and not watching games, that seems the time to, like Barney Fife would say, "Nip it in the Bud"!

Some here says kids don't want to come to UND for hockey like they used to. If that truly is the case tough to expect chippaz to come here for MBB, WBB and FB. It's all about recruiting and retention.

A lot of the top CHLers will definitely have UND near the top of their list simply because of the program's history/reputation for developing NHLers (especially Canadians). But the development part got worse under Berry, and if @yzerman19 is right about the top 2010s not considering UND, that's concerning and you gotta get the new head coach right in order to get the program back to the top quickly.

I would much rather have a super talented group that the coach gets to buy-in and work hard and build over the course of the season into a complete hockey team, than a bunch of try hards with the lunch pail attitude who can't hit water falling out of a boat.  I realize it isn't easy to get talented guys to play a role necessarily, tht's part of the art of coaching and what we need.  Don't recruit 4th liners to play 4th line.  Recruit first liners that accept they gotta play 3rd line because they have Oshie and Toews in front of them.

Like Schlossman didn't hear the "next man up" culture that Berry preached.

I wonder if any of Boisvert, Perron, Livanavage or James leave, if Schlossman will put it on the coaching change rather than it might not have happened period if the team wasn't so dysfunctional.
