The hate he gets from the fan base is comical when he tends to vote for UND and UND players for awards favorably. For the list, Spoons is the only one that should be on the list. Hicks is there because he’s unbeaten, the other two for “Michigan/B1G bias” 1 Quote
AlphaMikeFoxtrot Posted Thursday at 03:05 PM Posted Thursday at 03:05 PM It's surprising that #4 isn't listed, but otherwise no qualms with the list. Evan Murr is undoubtedly fielding offers from pro and college teams right now. Quote

I'm not a big fan of Ty Hanson of UMD, and I suspect the only reason he is on the list is because of points. He's not that good defensively (his drop pass in the Michigan game is a good example) and I would take at least 3 UND defensemen before him (Livanavage, Wiebe, Emery and arguably Verhoeff), but certainly Livanavage. Reschny should also be on the all-rookie team. 1 Quote

brianvf Posted Friday at 03:26 AM Posted Friday at 03:26 AM Schloss article on Kernan: https://www.grandforksherald.com/sports/und-hockey/in-one-year-jack-kernan-goes-from-uncommitted-to-key-contributor-in-unds-frozen-four-run Quote UND's facilities, coaching staff and fan base all factored into the decision. But when asked why he became a Hawk, Kernan was quick to single out general manager Bryn Chyzyk. Quote "I think a lot of that has to do with Chyz," Kernan said. "But mostly it was just such a great place. The fans are amazing. Kind of just go back to the beginning, just the facilities, the coaching staff had a (vision). I really respect Jackson, and especially Smaby when they brought him in, playing against him and Waterloo a bunch. It just felt like the place to be." 1 1 Quote

brianvf Posted Saturday at 05:34 AM Posted Saturday at 05:34 AM Nice article on Zmolek: https://www.grandforksherald.com/sports/college/from-dark-times-to-the-frozen-four-bennett-zmoleks-college-hockey-journey-winds-up-in-vegas Quote Bennett Zmolek will make a decision after this season ends — he has the option to apply for a medical redshirt — but there’s a good chance that UND’s game(s) in Las Vegas will be his last as a Fighting Hawk, and possibly his last as a hockey player. If so, the 23-year-old (he turns 24 on April 17) can’t imagine a better way to go out, than by captaining a 29-9-2 team into its first Frozen Four since North Dakota won its most recent NCAA title, in 2016. 4 Quote

IMHO. If he doesn't come back, I can see him being a great coach ... perhaps back here in the future. Quote
