When I did the CHN NPI customizer it looked like we could go 3-3 and still be 3 as far as our own results go. But that will also depend on if the teams below us can propel themselves up. But all things point to us getting #3-4 as long as we don't go below .500 in the next month

Did we get an update on Zmolek or Klee? Because if they are both out then I'm guessing Andrew gets in for sure because Jubenvil would take Zmolek's place.

This has been said on the Forum 100 times this year, but we are so spoiled with our defensive depth. I have 0 concerns about Jubenvil stepping in for a few games if Zmolek needs recovery. Sure he isn't going to kill penalties or win as many board battles but the guy makes simple and smart plays and rarely looks out of place.

I was thinking more about clinching the Penrose before the WMU road series.

Any of these potential solutions are a relief considering what could have happened to #17. 

I didn't know Zakreski was 20, definitely no medical red-shirt for him. Even if he goes on a pitch count, I agree, get him back in the lineup this weekend.

Have folks living in the upper Midwest started pulling the trigger on Sioux falls tickets? It's a safe assumption if we are a 1 seed we will be placed there.

Just finished listening to this week’s UND hockey podcast with Brad Schlossman and Jason Feldman. Schlossman said if we win all 4 of these next two home series, we’d clinch the Penrose before traveling to Western. It’s a tall order but doable.

points earned by UND and/or not earned by other team
that gets UND an outright Penrose (and home league playoff games),
call it "magic number" by opponent: 

DU 11
WMU 12 <-- huge series; a single UND win is 3 pts and 3 not earned by WMU
UMD -1 
Miami 1
SCSU -3
ASU -4
CC -3
UNO -5  

A minus value means they can't pass UND. Only three positive values assures UND first round home ice. 

Magic Number = 73 - (UND pts) - (pts not earned by other team)

Why 73? 24 games = 72 pts available. Using 73 is outright, no standings ties

Like the data I just posted says: 12 points earned by UND and it's an outright Penrose.

And Denver (or WMU?) losses would reduce that further?

The main thing is staying in the top 4  NPI.   Winning a game or two in the conf tourney against Western and/or DU would go a long way toward maintaining at least a 3 ranking.

Agree. Having the #1 in the Regional will go a long way.  

Focus on getting the best seed in the NCAA Tourney.

Side story in there that Jost’s mom told Dylan’s mom that he wishes he had stayed at UND for longer. 
 

"We have a lot of appreciation for guys who stuck with us when things were not looking great," Jackson said. "Some guys packed up and left, which is fine. But guys that showed that character and belief in why they came to North Dakota, and belief in the new staff, it means a lot to our staff."

"I'm definitely glad I came back," James said. "Besides the success personally, just to experience another year of North Dakota hockey is something you can't really get more of once you're gone. And this team is unbelievable. I've had good teams here the past three years, but nothing quite this good and this tight. It's just so much fun to come to the rink every day."

No, but I used to bring an old cap with me to games for such an occasion.  Didn't want to have to throw my good SIOUX cap.
