I always thought he may hang around in the NHL or at least the AHL for a bit. 50 in the NHL and over 150 in the AHL isn't too bad. 1 Quote

brianvf Posted Wednesday at 12:59 AM Posted Wednesday at 12:59 AM Gladiator helmet replaces the hard hat for post-game honors: https://www.grandforksherald.com/sports/und-hockey/unds-new-post-win-tradition-a-gladiator-helmet Quote The first-year coach had a surprise for the team — a Roman Empire-inspired gladiator helmet with spikes coming out of the top. The players roared as Jackson held it in the air. "Are you not entertained?" Jackson said. The construction-style hard hat, a staple for over a decade as UND's post-win player of the game honor, is gone. Quote Jackson presented it to freshman Jack Kernan, who scored two goals against Manitoba. Kernan gave a short speech after. "Enjoy the win," Kernan said. "Now let's get down to business for the real start of the season." After UND's next win, Kernan will present the gladiator helmet to his choice for player of the game. 2 Quote

nascar99 Posted Thursday at 01:13 PM Posted Thursday at 01:13 PM Seems like this roster is more balanced, deeper, and plays with more identity. Felt like the 2024-25 group had plenty of talent, but was rarely if ever on the same page about how to approach attacking each game, leading to puzzling results. Quote

.357 Posted Thursday at 03:48 PM Posted Thursday at 03:48 PM Not sure of the veracity of this, but it was stated on X that McKenna had 57 NHL scouts watching him in Tempe last weekend. Will be interesting to see how many will be watching Verhoeff this weekend & throughout the season; no doubt a lot. Quote

Looked like they had all the corner rail seats for scouts. Quote

Granted he was likely scouting other players as well but would be an all time collapse by the rangers if they get the chance to draft McKenna lol 1 Quote

The had them over by a were the writers sit above the visiting teams parents on the Big Chick side. Once and awhile I see them block off the spot by Vesnia Pizza. Two Canucks fans with McKenna jerseys already lol Steve Peters was there but didn’t see him, seen Eades and Dean a couple times since the UND game. 1 Quote

It’s really strange. I’m pretty good at getting numbers to names. But even I had trouble at times, identifying players on the ice. 1 Quote

My wife follows hockey somewhat, goes to 5-10 games a year and she recognized about 5 players when they announced the team at the fanfest. Quote

Dang, they have some serious talent at D, even without the new guys. Quote
nascar99 Posted 6 hours ago Posted 6 hours ago There's enough rawness in Verhoeff's game where I think a 2nd year will do him wonders going forward. Hopefully Jackson, Chyzyk, Verhoeff/his advisor, and after the draft, his NHL team will be on the same page about this. Can't rush him to pro, you're seeing the issues with that right now with Levshunov in Chicago after just one year at State. Quote

Cale Makar, Jake Sanderson, Owen Power, Zach Werenski... if a second NCAA season was good enough for these high-end defensemen, a second year will almost certainly benefit Verhoeff long-term. 2 2 Quote
